Ryan Griffin’s new single “Mama’s Boy” is the ultimate Mother-Son anthem!

After millions of views and viral success of a teaser clip, Griffin released his single “Mama’s Boy” on Friday, May 7, just in time for Mother’s Day. Co-written by Griffin alongside Cameron Bedell, Mitch Allen and Sara Haze, the track finds the hit singer/songwriter thanking God that his son has a heart of gold like his mom even though he aspires to be just like his dad.

“The way you talk with your hands / The way you laugh when you dance / How you can’t stay mad, yeah / You’re your mama’s boy,” Griffin sings in the chorus of the track that resonates with moms across the globe. “You don’t hold nothing back / And you love with all you have / I know you wanna be just like me / But thank God your heart’s like your mama’s, boy / Oh, like your mama’s, boy.”

“The funny thing is 3 out of the 4 writers on Mama’s Boy had just welcomed baby boys into their family,” Griffin explained. “When the idea was brought up in the write, we all immediately connected to it. Boys want to be just like their Daddy, but we all know if they have a heart like their Mama they’ll grow up to be good men.” He later added, “So many have expressed that there aren’t a lot of songs out there that celebrate the special bond between a mother and her son. I’m really proud and thankful to be a part of a song that honors that relationship.”

During the initial first 4 days of its release, “Mama’s Boy” earned the most daily streams of any country song on iTunes, sitting above Luke Combs, Gabby Barrett, Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris and more. The tender track first gained traction when it amassed over 4.5 million views when Griffin teased the song on TikTok.

“I always knew this song was special to me, but I didn’t know if it would connect with everyone else in the same way,” Griffin told Music Mayhem. “It took off as soon as I posted it [on TikTok], and I was blown away by how many people said this was their story too!”

Upon release, the song quickly climbed the iTunes Country charts, where it sat at the No. 1 spot for several days.

“It was incredible to see it translate the way it did. I never expected it to go No. 1 let alone stay there for days, but the thing that really hit me was reading the comments on TikTok,” Griffin explained. “Some people were listening to it in the hospital waiting for their baby boy to arrive while others couldn’t wait to dance to it at their wedding. It’s cool to think Mama’s Boy will be a part of so many people’s lives.”

“Mama’s Boy” marked Griffin’s second No. 1 on iTunes as an unsigned, independent artist, following his worry-free summertime jam, “Salt, Lime & Tequila.”

Griffin shared that he’s “not sure if there’s going to be an album in the future,” but right now is he “putting out the music that resonates with people” as he writes it.

Music Mayhem recently named Griffin an artist to watch in 2021, as he is poised to have a breakout year and he solidified that statement with the releases of “Salt, Lime & Tequila” as well as this song both of which are destined to be his next chart-topping hits.

Additionally, the singer has several upcoming festival appearances, which you can find below.

June 24 – Country Jam in Mack, CO
August 19 – Headwaters Country Jam in Three Forks, MT
