Russell Dickerson’s wife Kailey Dickerson reflected on what was an “incredibly wonderful” yet “heart-wrenching” year for the couple in 2022 in a recent Instagram post.
On Saturday (Dec. 31), Kailey took to social media to share a lengthy post with fans, detailing the highs and the lows that her and Russell experienced throughout the last year.
“2022 was incredibly wonderful and heart-wrenching… We saw some of the most beautiful places in the world, some of my favorite places… some big -dream-come-true moments… and had wounds only a handful of people saw and tended to,” Kailey wrote.
Kailey, 32, then revealed that she and Russell suffered a miscarriage in September of 2022.
“In the middle of the craziest year we have ever had, we lost a baby in September at 8 weeks…” she explained.
The Coffee With Kailey podcast host went on to share the emotions she went through after losing the baby, “it felt like drowning and trying to swim towards sun to find the surface.”
While she was unsure if she’d share the sad news with her followers, she admits “something about going into this next year, I needed to leave this news in 2022.” She continued, “The loss; however, is something that will always be written into our story. I know I’ll share more about it when I’m ready, but for now, and for the last several months, I’m holding these two extra close.”

She concluded the vulnerable post by saying, “I have read several recaps from people this year and not one has been perfect. It all came with both beauty and ashes. It gives me hope knowing we are more connected than we think. And it gives me solace knowing nothing and no one’s life is perfect or without pain. May we all give each other some more grace this next year… more kindness because we don’t know what someone is truly going through… more love because we all need it. And may Jesus be near to the broken-hearted. He sure has been for us. 🤍”
Country stars and The Dickersons’ friends quickly flooded the comments of the post with empathy and messages of encouragement, including Lady A’s Hillary Scott, Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman, Lindsay Ell, Josh Kerr and many others. In addition, several country artists’ wives such as Luke Combs’ wife Nicole Hocking Combs, Shay Mooney’s wife Hannah Billingsley and more, also sympathized with The Dickerson’s.
After receiving an outpouring of love on social media, Kailey shared a follow-up post graciously thanking everyone for their support.
“I don’t even know where to begin. The kindness and support I’ve seen from my last post has been OVERWHELMING *in the best way,*” Kailey added. “So many people have walked this road and it feels a whole lot less lonely. I wish none of us were in this club, but here we are, coming together and making beauty from ashes. And it is so, so beautiful.”

She also shared a poem that she penned just one day after suffering a miscarriage, hoping it resonates and helps others who are going through or have gone through a similar situation. Read the full poem below.
“My heart beat yours and you were learning to grow
Eyes that would beam and a little round nose
All your ten fingers and all your ten toes
Now running on the streets of gold
Tethered to Jesus, come close to you mother and father.
Sing heavenly songs over us and your brother.
With no rhyming reasons or answers We’ll know, you my love, had to go.
Oh how we long to see what you see
Oh how we long to know what you know.
For a moment in time your life was in mine. But you were called up to the great divine.
May Jesus hold you till I get to the other side.
May he rock you and comfort both you and I
Baby, here or in heaven you’ll always be mine.”
Russell and Kailey Dickerson met in 2008 while attending Belmont University in Nashville and later wed in April of 2013. Seven years after tying the knot, the beloved country couple welcomed a son, Remington, on September 10, 2020.

Prior to welcoming their son Remington, Russell opened up about their pregnancy struggles in an interview with PEOPLE.
“It just got to the point where we’re like, ‘Well, if it happens, it happens. It’ll happen when it does.’ It’s all God’s timing on that part,” the “Home Sweet” singer told the outlet at the time.
Additionally, Russell Dickerson recently released his Self-Titled album, which marked his third full-length project. The album features 15 tracks, including his current single “She Likes It” featuring Jake Scott, “I Wonder,” “I Remember,” “God Gave Me A Girl,” among others.
