The 3x GRAMMY-award winning rapper and country superstar performed their latest collaboration, “Grits & Glamour,” for the first-time ever during CMT Crossroads on Wednesday, September 1.

“Doing this project, I knew I had to have this young brother a part of this project because my goal is to make a statement in the sense of being relative for people such as yourself, for people such as myself, for Blanco’s, for BRELAND’s in a genre of music that can be loved universally,” Nelly said.

“It was a no brainer for me to have you on here,” Nelly told Brown ahead of their performance of “Grits & Glamour” on the iconic CMT series.

Earlier in the show, Brown and Nelly teamed up for a performance of “Cool Again,” a track from Brown’s EP, Mixtape Vol. 1. You can watch the superstar pair’s “Cool Again” performance below.

Nelly made history as the first rapper to ever headline the iconic CMT series.

Throughout the show, the St. Louis-born rapper brought out his longtime friends and collaborators Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown, Blanco Brown and BRELAND, who joined Nelly to perform new songs from his just-released country-influenced EP, Heartland. The project features Nelly’s 2x Platinum hit with Florida Georgia Line, “Lil Bit,” in addition to “Grits & Glamour” with Kane Brown, “High Horse” with Blanco Brown and Breland, and more.

The 60-minute special also featured high-energy, one-of-a-kind performances of Nelly’s biggest hits, including “Hot In Herre,” “Country Grammar (Hot Shit).” CMT also through in a few surprises to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nelly’s diamond-certified album, Country Grammar.

CMT Crossroads: Nelly & Friends aired on Wednesday, September 1st at 10p/9c, exclusively on CMT.
