Morgan Wallen had a huge year in 2023, and the country superstar took to Instagram to reflect on his last 12 months in a post on Tuesday evening (Jan. 9). The East Tennessee native shared a video montage that he dubbed his “2023 recap reel,” which began with footage of the singer in Sydney, Australia in March 2023.
Reflected On His Whirlwind Year In 2023
“It’s nice to sometimes just take a quiet moment, you know?” Wallen said during a break exploring Sydney. “There’s a lot of people that work hard that don’t get to experience this kind of stuff, so, try not to take it for granted.”
The reel then moved into footage of Wallen performing in Auckland, New Zealand, as he told the crowd that it was his and his band’s first time in the country. Next was a montage of Wallen rising onto his tour stage on various nights and performing, as well as photos of him with friends and fellow artists, including Drake.
The middle of the video saw Wallen address the six weeks he was off the road on vocal rest after he was unable to perform a show in Oxford, Mississippi on April 23, which the crowd found out about just before the singer’s set was supposed to start. Following his injury, his next show was a concert in Chicago in June, where he told the audience “About six weeks ago, I wasn’t really sure when I was gonna be able to sing again, but we back!”
Footage continued of Wallen performing, spending time in the cities he visited and recording in the studio with Post Malone, all set to his hit song with Lil Durk, “Broadway Girls.”
In his caption, Wallen declared 2023 “A year of some valley lows, and some mountaintop highs. But a year that I will forever hold dear.”
“Thank y’all for being so good to me, for allowing me to create with freedom, and for showing up on the road with the best energy I’ve ever seen,” he concluded. “Let’s do it again in 24.”

Wallen’s Chart Domination And Milestone 10 No. 1 Hit
Over the past year, Wallen dominated the charts with his album One Thing at a Time and the single “Last Night.” One Thing at a Time was released in March and was the biggest album of the year, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and moving 5.362 million equivalent units. It spent 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, passing Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti as the album with the most weeks at No. 1 this decade.
“Last Night” was the biggest song of the year and spent 16 nonconsecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, giving Wallen his first No. 1 on that chart and becoming the longest-running No. 1 country song in the chart’s history and the first ever song to top the Billboard Hot 100 and Country Airplay charts simultaneously.
Later in the year, Wallen earned his milestone 10th No. 1 at country radio with the single “Thinkin’ Bout Me” in October and followed it with his 11th chart-topper, “Everything I Love,” in December. His next single from One Thing at a Time, “Man Made Bar” with Eric Church, will next impact country radio.
He’ll continue his One Night At A Time World Tour this year, with a lengthy run of stadium shows set to conclude in Las Vegas in August. Wallen is also working on his next album, confirming in a recent Billboard profile that he is writing and looking at new songs.
