Morgan Wallen made a surprise appearance at Losers’ 19th Birthday Party during ERNEST’s set to perform “Flower Shops.”

In the clip shared by Losers, ERNEST is seen strumming his acoustic guitar as he performs the first chorus of the tune. He then steps away from the microphone as his duet partner joins him on stage.

The crowd then erupts as Morgan Wallen enters the stage to perform his verse of the song.

“Well, I took some pills and she took the dogs/ Ah, it’s all gone to hell, she’s gone to her mom’s/ And I took up drinkin’ since she took the time/ To tell me I took the best years of her life,” Wallen sings.

Wallen and ERNEST went on to finish singing the tune before bidding farewell to the audience.

“Thank you and Losers happy birthday!” ERNEST shouts as he and Wallen exit the stage.

“Thank you very much Losers. Y’all have a good night!” Wallen adds.

Full-Circle Moment

The surprise performance served as a full-circle moment as Losers Bar in Nashville is the same place that the pair of hitmakers announced and performed the song for the first time in August 2021.

During Losers’ Birthday Celebration in 2021, Morgan Wallen revealed that he and ERNEST would be releasing the duet and performed the tune for the capacity crowd.

“Y’all cool if I sing you a new song that I’m going to do with my buddy Ernest?” Wallen asked the crowd at the time before going into the song, sans ERNEST.

“Well, y’all kind of knew this already but I love singing sad songs,” he continued. “It don’t matter if I’m the happiest person in the world, I just love riding around listening to sad songs. That’s what I’m going to sing tonight. This is a new one, I don’t know if y’all heard this or not but me and Ernest are doing this together, it’s called ‘Flower Shops.’”

Ahead of his 2021 performance, ERNEST shared a clip on his Instagram singing a snippet of the song, which was unreleased at the time, with Wallen.

“I’ll take all your roses / if you cut off the thorns / can’t take no more / how ’bout violets and daisies to hide all the crazy / it’s going to take all you got / it’s a bad day for love / but a good day for flower shops,” the pair sang in perfect harmony.

“Flower Shops” serves as the title track to ERNEST’s debut album of the same name.

“Flower Shops” Was Inspired By A George Jones’ Song

Co-written by ERNEST alongside Ben Burgess and Mark Holman, the song was written with inspiration from a George Jones’ song. During an episode of the Just Being ERNEST podcast, ERNEST shared the story behind “Flower Shops” and how it was inspired by a Jones’ melody.

“I was playing a bunch of George Jones’ songs, and there was one song I never heard called ‘A Good Year For The Roses,’ which the artist revealed about a critically acclaimed tune that speaks on making small talk. “So, Burgess was like, ‘man, this is pretty cool! We should write something kind of like his. We went back and forth and finally landed on “Good Day For Flower Shops.”

The Nashville native is currently serving as support on Morgan Wallen’s 63-date One Night At A Time World Tour, which kicked off on April 14 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

ERNEST will remain on tour with Wallen until the extensive trek wraps up on October 7 in Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma Dome.

This Fire Tour

Later this year, ERNEST will embark on a 15-date fall headlining trek, This Fire Tour. “The fellas and I are hitting the road this fall, 🔥” ERNEST wrote at the time of the tour announcement.

ERNEST’s This Fire Tour launches in Oxford, Ohio on October 18 and runs through November 28, where the trek will wrap up in Nashville, Tennessee. The trek features special guests Jake Worthington, John Morgan and Cody Lohden on select dates.

“I’m really excited to get the ERN show back on the road with the fellas,” ERNEST shared in a press release. “The show’s gonna be a hell of a time! Anytime we get to play to a room full of people who come to hear our music – it’s an unmatched feeling. The tour last year was a blast, and since then we dropped another 13 songs. If you haven’t yet, go listen to Two Dozen Roses, then come out and sing some country music with us.”

ERNEST’s This Fire Tour follows the chart-topping songwriter’s completely sold out, first-ever headlining tour, which was dubbed the Sucker For Small Towns Tour and featured support from Jake Worthington, Lauren Watkins, and Noah Hicks.
