Morgan Wallen will no longer be eligible for the upcoming 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards after using a racial slur.

On Wednesday (Feb. 3), The Academy Of Country Music (ACMs) took to social media to share Wallen’s ineligibility and removal of involvement from the upcoming award show scheduled for April 18.

“The Academy Of Country Music will halt Morgan Wallen’s potential involvement and eligibility for this year’s 56th Academy of Country Music Awards cycle,” the statement read. “We have made his management team aware of this decision. The Academy does not condone or support intolerance or behavior that doesn’t align with our commitment and dedication to diversity and inclusion.”

ACM also shared that they will be reestablishing their awards eligibility and submission process as a result to ensure that the nominees are consistently reflecting The Academy’s integrity.

“In the coming weeks, the Academy will expedite the offering of long-planned diversity training resources for out ACM Membership, Board, Staff and the Country Music artist community, made available through Diversity + Inclusion Task Force, established in 2018. As a result of this unprecedented situation, the Academy will be renewing our awards eligibility and submission process, ensuring our nominees consistently reflect the Academy’s integrity.”

The ACM announcement comes after Big Loud announced that his recording contract has been suspended indefinitely, as the aforementioned “behavior will not be tolerated.”

Additionally, Wallen’s music has been removed from hundreds of country radio stations across the country and all upcoming appearances on CMT have been removed.
