Morgan Wallen found himself in legal trouble after an incident at Eric Church’s newly opened Nashville bar, Chief’s. Wallen was arrested on felony charges and booked into the Downtown Detention Center on Sunday evening, April 7, at 10:53 PM CT, following a night out.
Arrested After Allegedly Throwing A Chair From Chief’s Rooftop
According to an arrest report, obtained by News Channel 5, Metro Nashville police officers were standing outside of Eric Church’s six-story establishment, located 200 South Broadway, in Downtown Nashville and a chair came “falling down from above them, hitting the ground just feet from where they were standing.”
The report also stated that employees at Chief’s told the officers that the individual responsible for throwing the chair off the rooftop of the bar was country hitmaker, Morgan Wallen.
After staff members informed the officers of this, Metro Nashville police were able to obtain surveillance footage of the incident, which then showed Wallen “lunging and throwing an object over the roof.”
Facing Several Charges
The 30-year-old singer/songwriter and East Tennessee native faces several charges, including three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
According to the Davidson County Courts website, Morgan Wallen’s bond was set at $15,250. He is now set to appear in court on May 3, just 10 days before his 31st birthday and the same date that Wallen is set to headline Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, to settle the charges before a judge.
Morgan Wallen’s Attorney Issues Statement
Since being booked, Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson of Worrick Robinson Law, shared a statement on the singer’s behalf with Music Mayhem.
“At 10:53p Sunday evening, Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities,” Robinson said in an exclusive statement.
No additional details of his arrest were released.
Recently Returned To The Road
Morgan Wallen recently returned to the road for his headlining One Night At A Time World Tour, which will visit stadiums through August 2024. He kicked off the 2024 leg of the massive trek on Thursday (April 4) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he delivered a 25-song set for over 2 hours.
The tour comes in support of Wallen’s latest album, One Thing At A Time. The project arrived on March 3 and made its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, where it remained for 19 consecutive weeks; the most at the top for a Country album in over 30 years.
One Thing At A Time features 36 tracks, including duets with Eric Church, HARDY and ERNEST. Wallen’s sister Ashlyne also makes an appearance on the project, singing harmonies on the song titled “Outlook.” He also pays tribute to his son, Indigo (Indie) Wilder Wallen, on the project with the tune “Dying Man,” which he often dedicates to Indie during his live concerts.
“This record represents the last few years of my life, the highs and the lows,” Wallen previously shared in a statement. “It also brings together the musical influences that have shaped me as an artist – country, alternative and hip-hop.”
The country crooner is set to return to the stage on April 20 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi. He will also deliver a headlining set at Stagecoach on April 28 before coming back to Nashville for a three-night stint at Nissan Stadium, beginning on May 2 and running through May 4.
