Glorified pop singer, Meghan Trainor is often recognized for her catchy tunes, bubbly personality and her relationship with her husband, Daryl Sabara, who’s best known for portraying Juni Cortez in the Spy Kids film series.
Trainor first made a splash in the music industry when she unleashed her diamond-certified smash single “All About That Bass” in 2014. Since then, she has gone on to earn a GRAMMY for Best New Artist and rack up eight multi-platinum singles and two platinum albums.
Her hubby, Sabara, got his foot in the door as an actor early on in his childhood and into his teens. Along with his role in Spy Kids, he has appeared in TV shows such as Murphy Brown, Will and Grace, Friends, and Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. Plus, he has done voice-overs on Cartoon Network and the animated films The Polar Express and Finding Nemo.
First Met In 2014 At A Party, Romance Began In 2016
The stars first met at a party in 2014, but they didn’t bring romance to the table until 2016. At the time, Trainor had appeared on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix show and explained her incredible persistence when it came to her search for the right guy.
“I asked every person I met since day one, ‘Find me a boyfriend!’ Like, especially new friends too,” the singer shared. “Chloë Grace Moretz is a friend of mine, and day one of meeting her, I was like, ‘You know anybody that I could date? Or love? Whatever.’”

The singer/songwriter then revealed that Moretz had Sabara in mind who she claimed was “the nicest guy in the world.”
After suggesting Trainor meet him, their pair went on a double date that consisted of bowling and karaoke with the Kick-Ass actress and her then-boyfriend, Brooklyn Beckham.
“Love At First Sight”
Sabara later recalled the moment he first saw Trainor and revealed that it was “love at first sight.”
“When you walked in the room, I was like, ‘Damn, she’s a dime,’” Sabara recalled in 2020 during an interview on Apple Music Hits’ Dirty Radio with Meghan Trainor. “It all happened when you first walked in the room on that double date and it was this ease just came over me, like there she is. I never knew that I would get married and then when I saw you, it just flashed before my eyes.”
One year following their 2017 engagement, the lovebirds tied the knot on Trainor’s 25th birthday in an intimate backyard ceremony. Trainor reportedly walked down the aisle to one of her own songs titled, “Marry Me,” which is featured on her 2019 EP, The Love Train.
To commemorate the milestone, they opted for a non-traditional honeymoon. Instead, the newlyweds enjoyed a tropical getaway to Bora Bora with Trainor’s brother, Ryan, and his female friend for what she dubbed a “familymoon.”
Welcomed Their First Child In February of 2021
The couple welcomed their first child, Riley, on Feb. 8, 2021, in a traumatic birth.
“It was one of those horror stories where he didn’t cry,” Trainor explained during an appearance on the Today show in June of that year. “He didn’t make noise when he came out. I was like, ‘Why isn’t he crying?’ Then they told me he was having breathing issues.”
Their baby boy unfortunately had to spend several days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), but eventually, he recovered and became healthy enough for the new parents to take him home before he was healthy enough to go home.
Despite the good news, Meghan Trainor later revealed that she had a whole new battle to face once she returned home from the hospital. As a result of the terrifying events, Trainor suffered post-traumatic stress disorder.
“Usually when you’re being sewn up for 45 minutes, you’re like, ‘Look at my gorgeous baby. We did it. This is everything.’ But I was laying there alone,” Trainor previously told PEOPLE. “In the moment, I was so drugged up, I was calling my mom, and she’s crying on the phone, like, ‘Are you okay?’ And I was like, ‘We’re fine.’ And then when I tell people what happened, they’re like, ‘Jesus Christ,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, that was kind of messed up, right?’”
Dear Future Mama
In her new book Dear Future Mama, the “Made You Look” singer reflected on what it was like to return home and suddenly have to face all the trauma in a new setting instead of enjoying the start of motherhood.
“I couldn’t go to sleep at night. I would be in tears and tell Daryl, ‘I’m still on that table, dude. I’m trapped there. I can’t remind myself I’m in bed and I’m safe at home,’ ” Trainor added. “I had to learn how traumatic it was.”
Luckily, she sought help through a therapist who helped her work through the difficult time and now, she’s ready to bring another member into their family. In January 2023, Trainor dropped the news that they were expecting their second child, another baby boy.
“What a blessing,” Trainor told PEOPLE in lieu of the announcement. “I’m just so grateful I can get pregnant. And I’m like, ‘I’m crushing it. This is amazing. This is my dream.’ I’m halfway there — I want four kids!”
The pair is often seen sharing glimpses of their lives on social media and through Trainor’s podcast with her brother, Ryan, called the Workin’ On It Podcast.
Expecting A Second Child
In an Instagram post shared on May 12, the GRAMMY-winner shared that she is “almost 8 months pregnant” and “can’t wait” to meet her new baby boy.
While pregnant, Trainor has also recently served as a judge on the latest season of Australian Idol.
