Megan Moroney is giving fans another glimpse of her next album with the release of her brand-new single, “Wish I Didn’t.” The 28-year-old country music superstar has also unveiled a gripping music video to go along with it.

Released on Friday, Jan. 16, ahead of her highly anticipated forthcoming album, Cloud 9, “Wish I Didn’t” finds Moroney sending out a playful warning to a current flame with a questionable past. In this brave new era of music, Moroney makes it clear that while her guard is down, she’s still not to be messed with, and she’s fully aware that her man has a history of being the bad-boy type.

You’ve got a hell of a reputation / So here I am patiently waiting / For that other shoe, or should I say boot? To drop,” the Georgian, 28, sings in the first verse before revealing she’s not afraid to unleash her dangerous side on her love interest. Sonically, the track sets a vibrant tone with a punchy guitar rhythm and a sound that builds into a groovy and effervescent pop/country melody.

Don’t make me wish I didn’t / Get dressed up, let you take me out / Wreck your bed, make you all I’m talking about / Consider this your warning, you’ve got one shot to listen / I think I’m falling for you, don’t make me wish I didn’t,” Moroney sings throughout the chorus of the track, showing off her alluring confidence as she steps into 2026 with an undeniably fierce attitude.

Produced by Kristian Bush and written alongside Emily Weisband, Hillary Lindsey, and Luke Laird, “Wish I Didn’t” serves as the third offering from Moroney’s upcoming third studio album, Cloud 9. She previously released back-to-back country radio hits, “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things.” Collectively, all three previews capture the essence of the Cloud 9 era, a 15-song collection Moroney calls “written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been.”

The “Wish I Didn’t” music video adds even more depth to the boldness of the catchy song. Directed by Lauren Dunn and filmed in the iconic Malibu house used as the Stewart family home in Disney’s Hannah Montana, this cinematic clip stars Moroney alongside reality TV personality Dylan Efron. With inspiration drawn from the action-comedy classic Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the storyline follows the fictional couple whose chemistry is obvious, even as the cracks start to show.

The opening sequence finds Moroney and her lover living a picture-perfect lifestyle before subtle visual cues such as cryptic glances, synchronized movements, and a mounting sense of competitive energy reveal a dual life behind their pristine facade. Moroney transitions from playing the role of a cozy, nurturing girlfriend to a wild and untamed thrill seeker, ready for any challenge that comes her way.

The action-movie style scenes keep viewers on the edge of their seats as tension escalates during a late-night dinner to leave off on a cliffhanger, giving fans something to think about as they wait for more to come.

Moroney’s full album Cloud 9 arrives on Feb. 20. The album is available for pre-order/pre-save here
