Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox started off as co-stars on the thriller, Midnight In The Switchgrass, which began filming in Puerto Rico in 2020.
“We were filming a movie and the only reason I took the movie is ‘cause they were like, ‘There are scenes with Megan Fox,’ the 31-year-old previously told Drew Barrymore in an interview. “I was like, ‘I’ll take the movie.’” In the midst of filming the Midnight In The Switchgrass, Machine Gun Kelly told Barrymore that he used to hang out around Fox’s dressing room trailer and eventually she invited him in for lunch. And while he pretended to be surprised, Machine Gun Kelly knew something was going to happen as he says his “gut is always right.”
“I went in there and she said, ‘How do you feel?’ and I said, ‘I’m lost,’ and she said, ‘Let’s find you,’” The rapper turned rocker shared. “It killed me; she was Cupid.”
Fox felt the same way and during an interview on Give Them Lala…With Randall podcast, the actress admitted that she knew it was love the moment he walked in the room.
“The second that I was in a room with him and said hello to him and looked into his eyes, I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame,” Fox explained after confirming their relationship. “We’re actually two halves of the same soul I think. I said that to him almost immediately. I felt it right away.”
“The second that I was in a room with him and said hello to him and looked into his eyes, I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame,” said Fox, who had recently split from husband Brian Austin Green. “We’re actually two halves of the same soul I think. I said that to him almost immediately. I felt it right away.”
While they bonded on set, their relationship remained platonic as Fox was married to Brian Austin Green at the time.
However, in May of that year, Fox and the Beverly Hills, 90210 star confirmed their breakup after nearly 10 years of marriage and filed for divorce on October 15, 2021. While they aren’t together anymore, the pair has still managed to co-parent their three children in harmony.
This news was unveiled around the same time that Fox and Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, were seen spending some time together outside of the set. They started to become even more involved in each other’s lives, which in turn, led to them putting their budding love on display in the public eye.
“[I was] definitely open [to] love, but I did not anticipate walking right into my soulmate like that,” Fox told British GQ Style while discussing meeting the “Rap Devil” singer. “I was obviously over the way I had been living, and those paths lined up, those doors opened. It was [as if] all the obstacles that had kept us apart all those years [had been removed] and we were able to finally intersect.”
The rapper and Fox officially announced their relationship on Twitter in June of 2020 when he quoted the lyrics from his song, “Bloody Valentine.” These rumors were further confirmed when Fox appeared as his love interest in the intimate music video for the rocking tune.
“‘i’m calling you girlfriend, what the f—‘ life imitated art on that one,” he wrote following the video’s release.
Fox also went on to make an appearance in the video for Kelly’s song “Drunk Face.”
In July, they joined Lala Kent as special guests on her podcast, “Give Them Lala.” This marked their first interview together as a couple. They discussed the beginning of their relationship that began on set when their trailers were placed right beside each other. During their conversation, Fox confessed that she dubs Kelly as her “twin flame,” which to her, means a soul that has “ascended to a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time.”
“We’re actually two halves of the same soul,” she explained. “I said that to him almost immediately, because I felt it right away.”
Kelly appeared to be inspired by his partner’s words because in 2022, he released his Mainstream Sellout album that included a track titled, “Twin Flame.”
They continued to put their love on display through moments like their Instagram debut as a couple, walking a red-carpet together for the first time at the 2020 American Music Awards, and getting matching voodoo doll tattoos.
In February of 2021, they reached a new level of commitment when the rapper posted a series of photos for Valentine’s Day, including an image of a necklace with a red dot in the middle that appeared to be a drop of blood.
The caption confirmed the suspicions of the encapsulated red liquid in his caption that read, “I wear your blood around my neck.”
Fox decided to share her DNA with her boyfriend as a way to solidify their trust and commitment to each other while she traveled to Bulgaria to film a movie. At the time, Kelly didn’t have a passport which meant the two would not be able to see each other for some time.
“I mean, some people give a handkerchief to their partner, she gave me her DNA,” Kelly previously said in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
Shortly after attending the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, Kelly tweeted about a milestone anniversary that he shared with Fox.
“she said ‘i love you’ one year ago today,” he wrote on May 25.
Early on in the next year, their titles of boyfriend/girlfriend turned into fiancés when they announced their engagement on social media on January 12, 2022.
“yes, in this life and every life” 💍 Kelly wrote alongside a video of Fox wearing the stunning two-stone ring.
“Beneath the same branches we fell in love under, i brought her back to ask her to marry me. I know tradition is one ring, but i designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love. 1-11-2022,” he continued.
However, things began to take a turn for the worse as speculations around their breakup came to light in the fall of 2022. For a while, they shut down the breakup rumors as they made several appearances together and secretly continued their wedding preparations. Then in February of 2023, Fox removed all signs of Kelly from her Instagram feed and made a post with the caption using Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” lyrics, “You can taste the dishonesty / it’s all over your breath.”
This gave fans a reason to believe there was a cheating scandal involved. Fox then added fuel to the already burning flame when she replied to a comment that read, “He probably got with Sophie,” referring to Kelly’s guitarist, Sophie Lloyd. Fox clapped back saying, “maybe I got with Sophie.”
In a further statement Fox revealed, “There has been no third party interference in this relationship of any kind. That includes but is not limited to actual humans, DMs, AI bots, or succubus demons. You need to let this story die and leave all of these innocent people alone now.”
The actress has since removed all posts altogether and made her account private. While the state of their relationship has yet to be determined, several sources have claimed that the stars are still holding on for the time being.
“Their relationship is crazy and intense, yet it wouldn’t be shocking if they were back together completely by the end of the week,” a source told PEOPLE.
