The 10th year of the American Rodeo at Globe Life Field just got even sweeter with Teton Ridge’s addition of country superstars Maren Morris, Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker and the Ghost Hounds to the event’s lineup! Cody Johnson was previously announced as the special performer that will take the stage on March 11 for an extended half-time show.

The American Western Weekend will span across March 8-11 in Arlington, TX with singer/songwriter Maren Morris performing on March 9 after The American Contender Tournament Finals.

On the heels of the exhilarating in-arena sports action taking place at The American Performance Horseman event on Friday, March 10th, fans will have the chance to experience over two hours of live performances from the iconic Sheryl Crow and GRAMMY-award winning Darius Rucker. The Ghost Hounds will open for the two stars to get the highly anticipated night rolling.

The American Performance Horseman is a groundbreaking, debut event that features the Top 5 professionals chosen from the standings of the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) and National Reining Horse Association (NRHA). The first-of-its kind exhibition format will combine history and competition to pay respect to the past, present and bright future of western performance horse sports.

The unique weekend packed full of western sports and entertainment will kick off on March 8 at 9AM CST with The American Contender Tournament Wild Card. Competitors will put their hard work and preparation to the test as they compete in The American Contender Tournament Finals at 6:45PM CST to advance to Saturday.

The American Rodeo serves as the finale of the nationwide rodeo Contender Tournament and is part of the Teton Ridge American western brand.

Country hitmaker Cody Johnson announced that he would be performing at the rodeo this past December, making the honor a full-circle moment for Johnson who once worked the rodeo circuit as a bull rider.

Joe Loverro, president of Teton Ridge Sports, reacted to Johnson being named as the event’s half-time performer, commenting that the “‘Til You Can’t” singer is, “exactly what the American Western Weekend celebrates.”

“Cody Johnson’s passion for the cowboy way of life and love of western sports is exactly what The American Western Weekend celebrates and we are thrilled to announce his headlining performance,” said Loverro. “The addition of Cody to The American Rodeo is an example of how Teton Ridge is committed to enhancing the fan experience, welcoming truly iconic names in the entertainment realm and bringing fans closer to the action at Globe Life Field,” he added.

In an interview with Country Now, Johnson gushed about the opportunity, labeling the American Rodeo as “such a special, unique rodeo.”

“I’ve been a big fan of The American Rodeo since it started. I’ve been able to attend a few times and usually every year we wind up on the couch sitting and watching it all day long cause it’s such a special, unique rodeo.”

“The fact that contenders get to qualify their way up to get to compete on such a large level for such a large amount of money, it’s a huge, huge deal not only for the rodeo world, but the pro-rodeo world as well. To give people a chance to compete against the people that they watch on the Cowboy Channel and things like that, it’s an incredible incentive for rodeo,” he told the outlet.
