Machine Gun Kelly took home his first-ever MTV Video Music Award for his single “Bloody Valentine” on Sunday (Aug. 30) during the pre-show.

The rapper was surprised with the award during an interview with his longtime friend and pre-show host, Travis Mills.

“This is crazy…. oh my god,” Machine Gun Kelly said in excitement.

“This is a big one dude, this is for the scene right here,” he continued. “Genres don’t matter no more, don’t let them box you in.”

He says that he is going to spray paint the award pink and showcase it in the coffee shop he just opened in his hometown of Cleveland, OH.

“Bloody Valentine” is a track from MGK’s forthcoming new pop-punk album, Tickets To My Downfall.
