Luke Combs has been busy headlining tours, releasing new music, and breaking records. But, even with his country star status, he has remained a down-to-earth guy. While fame hasn’t necessarily changed the country artist, Combs recently revealed that fatherhood had shifted his perspective on life — “big time.”

Opened Up About Fatherhood And How Having Kids Changed His Life

While speaking with news correspondent Adam Hegarty as part of a 60 Minutes Australia sit-down interview, Combs revisited his backstory, opened up about his ongoing battle with anxiety and OCD, and talked about the impact that becoming a dad has had on him since welcoming sons Tex Lawrence and Beau Lee into the world.  Of the latter, he said, “It’s been so awesome.”

“It just changes your whole outlook on life [and] really changes your priorities,” the co-recipient of the Country Radio Seminar 2025 Artist Humanitarian Award shared, adding that he no longer sweats the small stuff. “Little things that used to bug you or get on your nerves don’t seem to matter as much…”

Combs and his wife, Nicole Hocking Combs, welcomed their eldest son, Tex Lawrence, in June of 2022 after tying the knot in a Florida wedding two years prior. In August 2023, they joined the two under-two club celebrating the birth of their second child, a baby boy, Beau Lee.

Overjoyed When He Sees His Two Sons

Opening up about the joy he experiences just seeing his two sons, the “The Man He Sees In Me” singer beamed, “I mean, it’s like you see these two people who you’ve never met, and they can just kind of fill you with this feeling that you didn’t even know you could have,” he said. “I’ve loved having the boys. They’re just the best, man, and they’re just, just constant smiles, a lot of frustration, but mostly smiles.”

Combs, who in 2024 released his fifth and most personal studio album, Fathers & Sons, spent his year as a road warrior touring, and while he enjoys his life as a singer/songwriter, he admits he’s looking forward to spending more time with his kids when everything slows down.

“I miss ’em. I can’t wait to see [them]. It’s just good, It’s good. It’s like you come home to ’em, and they’re excited to see you and gosh, it’s great,” he shared.

Spends A Lot Of Time With His Sons Tex And Beau

There’s no question that a musician and celebrity lifestyle can look hectic from an outsider’s perspective, but surprisingly, Combs, who recently wrapped shows in Australia and New Zealand, says he actually gets to spend more time with his kids than one would assume.

“I get to, man, I get to spend a lot of time [with them]. I probably get to spend more time with my kids than most people, so I’m very, very thankful for that,” he said with gratitude before noting that his time with family comes in blocks versus having to punch the clock each day to make it home before dinner. “But my time away with them just comes in chunks as opposed to being at work every day. So I might get three months at home and see my kids every day and spend as much time with them as I want to, as much time as I can. So there are blessings on the other side of it, for sure. Good stuff.”

Combs, whose eldest is two and a half and youngest is one year old, says he wouldn’t ask for anything less when it comes to sharing moments with his children because time is precious, and they grow up fast.

“Especially when they’re little too, and you’re missing so much great stuff because there’s that little window,” he explains. ”I mean, pretty soon you’ll be staring down kindergarten, and then it’s like, well, maybe if I’m home five days a week or six days a week, well, he might be in school every day when I’m home for the most part, besides coming home and dinner and stuff. So you just try to spend that time with them.”
