Luke Combs recently earned his tenth consecutive No. 1 hit with “Better Together.” Several of those hit songs are inspired by his songwriting muse and wife Nicole, who he married in August 2020. She has inspired many of the hits in Combs catalog including his chart-topping single “Beautiful Crazy” and “Lovin’ On You.”

“Better Together” is the second song of a three-part trilogy of songs that includes “Beautiful Crazy” and his latest fan-favorite “Forever After All,” which have all been inspired by Nicole.

Their fairytale love story is brought to life in many of the songs that Combs has written and he says that “she always love it” and is “always pumped” when he tributes her in songs.

The superstar shares that although he doesn’t want to be known as the “love song guy,” he does thoroughly enjoy “writing that kind of stuff” and think that he has a “knack for it.”

“I enjoy writing that kind of stuff, and it’s something that I feel like I have a little bit of a knack for,” Combs shared with ABC. “I don’t necessarily want to be the love song guy, but I feel like kind of I am right now, which is just kind of where I was and happened to be at the moment.”

Combs jokes that he’s got Nicole “to blame” for having so many hit songs under his belt and jokes that “if she wasn’t so great, then this wouldn’t be happening” for him. He says neither of them “take anything too seriously” though as they always go back and forth with each other and “joke around a lot” and Nicole sometimes calls Combs “gushy” from the love songs he writes and sings about her.

The hitmaker’s sophomore album, What You See Is What You Get, was released in November 2019 and features the chart-topping song. The aforementioned album recently has been certified Double Platinum. Combs later went on to release the deluxe edition of the album dubbed, What You See Ain’t Always What You Get.
