Luke Combs performed his new song “Cold As You” during the 54th annual CMA Awards.
On Wednesday (Nov. 11), the CMA Entertainer Of The Year nominee was wearing his signature stage outfit with a Brooks & Dunn hat. His wife Nicole Hocking Combs was seen rockin’ out to his performance, singing and dancing along through the entire song.
“Cold As You,” I wrote this song with two of the same guys that I wrote “Beer Never Broke My Heart” with, I think it’s very similar,” Combs shared. “The idea was actually Shane Minor’s idea, and he’s a really awesome guy and was willing to let me and Jonathan (Singleton) and Randy (Montana) kind of take the little bit of a start that he had and run with it. And I’m super pumped to have another kick ass song with two of my favorite guys and one of my new buddies in Shane Minor.”
“Cold As You” was co-written by Combs alongside Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton, the track appears on his deluxe album, What You See Ain’t Always What You Get.
Combs received six nominations including his first-ever CMA Entertainer Of The Year nomination as well as Single Of The Year (“Beer Never Broke My Heart”), Album Of The Year (What You See Is What You Get), Song Of The Year (“Even Though I’m Leaving” and “I Hope You’re Happy Now) and Male Vocalist Of The Year.
The 54th Annual CMA Awards also featured performances from Chris Stapleton, Rascal Flatts, Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Darius Rucker, Eric Church, Jon Pardi, Keith Urban, Jimmie Allen, Ingrid Andress, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Old Dominion and Kelsea Ballerini.
Additionally, the show included star-studded collaborations by Dan + Shay with Justin Bieber, Reba McEntire featuring Darius Rucker, Gabby Barrett and Charlie Puth, Carly Pearce with Charles Kelley as well as Thomas Rhett together with McEntire and Chris Tomlin. The show opener featured an all-star performance from Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne and Ashley McBryde paying tribute to the late Charlie Daniels.
Hosted by Reba McEntire and Darius Rucker, “Country Music’s Biggest Night” aired on Wednesday, November 11 (live 8:00-11:00 PM ET) on ABC.
