After wrapping up another successful season of American Idol, Luke Bryan is ready to slow things down and spend more quality time with his family, which includes his wife, Caroline Boyer Bryan, and two sons, Thomas “Bo” Boyer and Tatum “Tate” Christopher.
“I’m Not Really Balancing It That Well This Year”
While speaking with ET Online, Bryan admitted that over the past twelve months, his personal life has taken somewhat of a backseat to his professional life. He added that he’s experienced a “rough year” and is ready to make some adjustments to prioritize his loved ones.
“I’m not really balancing it that well this year,” he confessed on Sunday (June 11) at his Nashville bar, Luke’s 32 Bridge, where he hosted his Nut House Fan Club party.
“Rough Year”
One activity that Bryan hopes to accomplish soon involves relaxation time, and he says that includes whisking his college sweetheart and wife of 16 years off to somewhere tropical.
“I’m like, ‘Baby, this is a rough year, let’s just get through it, and then we’ll find a boat and go to the Caribbean or something,’” Bryan added.
Recently, Bryan enjoyed some off-time with his kids and wife. According to ET Online, he has been able to spend time outdoors golfing, fishing, and getting into the sport of baseball.
“They’re playing travel baseball,” Bryan says. “You just try to make your time with them at home really, really count.”
“Slow Down A Little Bit As The Boys Get Into High School”
Last year, Bryan talked about the challenges of juggling his music career and kids, telling E! News that “I’ll probably slow it down a little bit as the boys get into high school and want to play even more sports.”
“It’s a tremendous challenge navigating this career and everything that goes with it,” he added. “You just have to make personal goals to get home and move. There are a lot of nights that I travel through the night just to try to be there one day to hang with the boys.”
What Is Luke Bryan’s Future On American Idol?
The “But I Got a Beer in My Hand” singer’s anticipated break time is well deserved as he hasn’t been able to cut back much on work. And, while he wishes to take time out with the family, it’s apparent his schedule will still be quite stacked.
As previously shared, Bryan just completed a run of Season 21’s American Idol alongside fellow judges Lionel Richie and Katy Perry. The show, which wrapped in late May, named Hawaii native, Iam Tongi, the winner. While the upcoming judging panel hasn’t been confirmed yet, Bryan is suspected to return to his role as a judge on the reality TV sing-off series, which airs on ABC.
“My future with Idol [will continue] as long as the show is growing and popping, and we feel like we’re doing beautiful work as a show,” Bryan told Taste of Country during CMA Fest 2023. “We felt like this year was what we had all worked together to get to. As long as the vibe feels like we’re moving onward and upward — and we’re getting emotionally moved, we’re telling the stories of kids and the American spirit, and it’s a show that kids [and] parents can cry and laugh together and have fun [watching] — it’s gonna be a tough show for me and Lionel and Katy to walk away from.”
Working On New Music, Embarking On His Country On Tour
In addition to Idol, Bryan has a busy schedule planned. On June 15, he will take the road as part of his Country On Tour. On top of that, he is also working on a new album.
“We’re kinda going, hearing songs, writing songs, and when we get what we like, we go in the studio. I’ve got some songs that I’m really proud of, and I’ve got some new vocal things that I’ve done that I think fans have never heard. … Got some other little tricks up my sleeve,” Bryan shared. “I just try to go in the studio, find the best songs I can, write the best songs and sing them and make the best music I can and, you know, thankfully, it’s worked for years, and [I’m] just always excited to roll new music out.”
On the topic of new music, Luke Bryan recently shared an unreleased new song to his Instagram, which you can listen to below.
In the fall, Bryan will also return to Las Vegas, Nev., for his residency at the Resorts World Theatre before embarking on his 14th Annual Farm Tour.
