Luke Bryan kicked off his Country On Tour over the weekend in New York. And while fans packed the venue to see him perform his songs live, for a brief moment, one military couple stole the show.
Midway through his set list at the Darien Lake Amphitheater in Darien Center, NY, on Friday (June 16), Bryan paused his performance of “Country On” to shine a very special light on concert attendee Shannon Dorvee, who was standing in the audience solo.
Dorvee, as told by Bryan in the Instagram clip below, has not seen her husband, Jeffrey, for a couple of years because he’s been busy fighting for American freedoms overseas. Unbeknownst to Dorvee, her husband was waiting backstage for the perfect moment to step out and surprise his wife in front of millions of people.

To make the moment a success, Bryan called on Dorvee to join him onstage. The audience erupted into cheers as the woman made her way through the sea of people, with the help of security. Once on stage, Bryan distracted Dorvee by strumming up a few chords on the guitar and getting the fans to sing the patriotic “Country On” chorus with him.
“I say, “Hey, hey, USA / We ain’t seen our better days / Hell naw, hey y’all / Country on / Country on,” Bryan belted out, as the sea of fans sang along right with him.
Seconds later, Dorvee’s husband, who was dressed in head-to-toe Army attire, walked out to give his bride a giant hug. Upon seeing her husband, Dorvee broke into a stream of happy tears, turning the moment into a tearful reunion that they – and the rest of the concertgoers — will never forget.
“Glad to be a part of this reunion. 🇺🇸 #CountryOn,” Bryan captioned, alongside his posted video featuring the sweet homecoming.

“Country On” was released on July 5, 2022, as the lead-off single from Bryan’s compilation album, Prayin’ in a Deer Stand. Upon release, the fun-filled tune became an instant fan-favorite and marks Bryan’s 30th No. 1 hit.
Co-penned by Mark Nesler, David Frasier, Mitch Oglesby, and Styles Haury, “Country On” precedes Bryan’s current “But I Got A Beer In My Hand” – an uptempo cut from his forthcoming album, which is still in the process of being finalized. The anticipated project will follow 2020’s Born Here Live Here Die Here album.
“This Is A Rough Year”
While Bryan works toward his next album, he also previously shared that he plans to carve out more time with the family, which includes his wife, Caroline Boyer Bryan, and two sons, Thomas “Bo” Boyer and Tatum “Tate” Christopher.
“I’m not really balancing it that well this year,” he told ET Online before sharing the promises he made to Caroline. “I’m like, ‘Baby, this is a rough year, let’s just get through it, and then we’ll find a boat and go to the Caribbean or something.”
Luke Bryan Is On Tour Through The Fall
For now, Luke Bryan will have to wait for the Caribbean trip, as he has plenty more shows in the works. Luke Bryan’s Country On Tour, which features supporting acts, Ashley Cooke, Jackson Dean, Jon Langston, Conner Smith, and Hailey Whitters for the remainder of the trek, runs through Oct. 28.
Along with his headlining run, Bryan will take the 14th Annual Farm Tour journey, which runs from Sept. 14-Sept 23.
