American Idol judges’ Luke Bryan, 46, and Lionel Richie, 73, reunited at Crash My Playa in Mexico on Sunday (Jan. 22) for an epic performance at the sold-out destination event.
After performing his chart-topping hit “Down To One,” Bryan welcomed Richie to the stage for a six-song performance in the midst of his headlining set.
“Crash My Playa! I want to thank you guys so much for year number eight. This is our eighth year and you guys make it so special. I’m so proud of what’s about to happen. You know what’s about to happen? Do you know what’s about to happen Crash My Playa?,” Bryan asked the audience.

Luke Bryan Says It Was An “Epic” Night And “Bucket List Moment”
He went on to tease what will become one of his “favorite stage moments” of his life.
“Are y’all ready for this? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the stage, one of music’s biggest icons that have ever lived. One of the greatest human beings ever, that’s ever lived and one of my best friends in the world. Give it up for Lionel Richie!”
Backed by Luke Bryan’s touring band, the pair of superstars went on to sing hit after hit, including The Commodores’ “Easy (Like Sunday Morning),” “Lady (You Bring Me Up)” “Brick House” as well as Richie’s hits “Dancing On The Ceiling,” “All Night Long (All Night),” and “Stuck On You.”

Throughout their collaborative set, the Idol judges danced with each other and had fans laughing with their playful onstage banter.
“I want to do this song with you because I say every night in my show this is a song you like to sing. So, tonight we get to pull it off,” Richie told Bryan before the pair performed Richie’s “Stuck On You.”
Bryan thanked Richie for traveling “halfway across the world” to be there.
“I love you thank you very much!” Richie said, before leaving the stage.
Before he bid farewell to Crash My Playa, Richie joined Bryan for a photo on the catwalk.
“The newest member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Lionel Richie,” shouted before they took a photo with the audience. “I hope you videoed every second of that.”

Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa 2023
Crash My Playa took place at the AAA Four Diamond awarded resort, Moon Palace Cancún, in Riviera Cancun, Mexico from January 19 through January 22, 2023.
Chris Stapleton, Cole Swindell, Lionel Richie, Dustin Lynch, Ashley McBryde, Brian Kelley, Carly Pearce, Chase Rice, Dylan Scott, DJ Rock, Kendell Marvel also performed during Crash My Playa.
Dubbed the ultimate vacation with Luke Bryan & Friends, Crash My Playa 2023 marked the third year that the event will be held at Moon Palace Cancún with the initial year being in 2020 and the eighth year of the event overall.
Fans in attendance were treated to an all-inclusive concert as well as enjoyed daily pool parties and other amenities offered by the resort, including a relaxing visit to the lavish AWE-Spa or a fun-filled outing at the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.

Luke Bryan & Lionel Richie Will Soon Return To American Idol
Additionanly, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will return to American Idol for Season 21.
American Idol recently teased the upcoming season with a new video promo clip, which featured all three Idol judges, including Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as well as host Ryan Seacrest. View the promo clip HERE.
Seacrest recently opened up about the forthcoming season during an interview with PEOPLE where he revealed that fans can expect to see quite a few country singers in the mix.
“The season is going to be really great,” he teased. “We found some great contestants, a lot of country singers as one might expect.”
The highly anticipated season premiere is set for Sunday, February 19, 2023, on the ABC Television Network.
