Luke Bryan and Chayce Beckham teamed up for an epic Kenny Chesney cover during the 8th annual Crash My Playa destination event at Moon Palace Cancún in Mexico on Sunday (Jan. 22).

In the midst of Bryan’s headlining performance, dubbed Luke Bryan & Friends, during the final night of the annual beachside concert getaway, he and Beckham performed Kenny Chesney’s “When the Sun Goes Down.”

“Welcome back to the stage, my buddy, Mr. Chayce Beckham. It’s time we play whatever the hell we want,” Bryan told the thousands of fans in attendance as Beckham walked into the massive stage.

The pair traded verses throughout their performance of the chart-topping hit, which was written by Brett James and originally recorded by Chesney and Uncle Kracker.

“Cause when the sun goes down, we’ll be groovin’ / When the sun goes down we’ll be feelin’ alright / When the sun sinks down, over the water / Everything gets hotter when the sun goes down,” Bryan and Beckham sang on the tune’s chorus.

Bryan then gave Beckham the spotlight as he exited the stage.

“So Chayce has a brand-new single coming out, it’s called ‘23,’ I’m going to let Chayce do a little ‘23’ tonight. Y’all love on him tonight,” Bryan said.

“Thank you, Luke, for having me out here, it’s been a blast,” Beckham told the capacity crowd. ”Thanks to everybody whose been streaming this song so much. We got to take it to Country Radio, we’re adding it tomorrow. So thanks to all the fans out there, I appreciate y’all.”

Beckham then went on to perform his debut single “23,” which is the song he performed on American Idol when he was crowned the Season 19 winner of the popular singing competition show in May of 2021.

In addition to performing on the main stage on Sunday (Jan. 22), Beckham also delivered a lengthy pool party performance.

Chayce Beckham’s “23” impacted Country Radio on Monday (Jan. 23).

The self-penned track is a very personal song to Beckham as he authentically sings about his life story and his past struggles with alcohol.

Throughout the autobiographical song he references real life experiences from his past that are true stories.

“Now I’m 23 / and there ain’t nobody who can drink like me / Soon I’ll be 24 / And the Lord knows that I can’t drink, no more / I know I should’ve taken it slow / It’s not the way that my life goes / Now I know / When you’re passed out on the floor / you’re sober by 24,” Beckham sings in the chorus of the track.

Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley, Dustin Lynch, Dylan Scott and more also joined Bryan during his headlining set on Sunday, January 22.

Crash My Playa took place at the AAA Four Diamond awarded resort, Moon Palace Cancún, in Riviera Cancun, Mexico from January 19 through January 22, 2023.

Chris Stapleton, Cole Swindell, Lionel Richie, Dustin Lynch, Ashley McBryde, Brian Kelley, Carly Pearce, Chase Rice, Dylan Scott, DJ Rock, Kendell Marvel also performed during Crash My Playa.
