ABC’s American Idol returned on Monday evening (March 22) for an exciting Duets round and singer Chayce Beckham stepped into the spotlight alongside fellow contestant Christina Daugherty to sing Noah Cyrus’ “July.”

Prior to their performance, Beckham and Daugherty thanked Idol judge Luke Bryan for creating the perfect pairing with them for the duet round. Both of their unique voices blended together flawlessly, making for a great sound that has us hoping for a duet from the pair in the future.

Following their performance Bryan said “very believable performance, very real.”

Bryan added, “Both of your voices are very unique. Chayce you showed us a new level that we didn’t know out of you but you have to start leaning on that, that if you learned to channel that natural rasp and grit, you could be Top 10 in this competition. And so you’re going through to the next round.”

“Christina, the characters in your voice are distinctive but I’m not sure that, that song gave you the proper chance.” Bryan added. “Christina, it’s the end of the road, we love you thank you.”

Chayce commented “that hurts my heart,” when finding out Christina’s end of the road fate. Which prompted Katy Perry to comment, “he said that hurts my heart, they don’t even know they’re in love.”

Chayce advanced to the next round, make sure you tune into American Idol on Sunday at 8 p.m. EST.
