Luke Combs is currently working on his new album and in the meantime he’s teasing fans with some new music!
The country superstar teased new music, in the form of an unreleased song, on Sunday (Oct. 3), however, he didn’t specify if this new track would appear on his yet-to-be announced third studio album or if it was just a song he recently wrote that he wanted to show fans.
“The Kind of Love We Make (unreleased original) – Written a ton of songs over the last year and a half,” Combs captioned a video clip alongside two songwriter friends, teasing fans of new music. “Here’s one I wrote with @thebrothershunt, @guitarpickerjd, and @dnunley321.”
The just-released clip finds Combs and his co-writers, The Brothers Hunt, Jamie Davis and Dustin Nunley, performing the unreleased new tune on a tour bus. Combs, wearing an Appalachian State University Nike hoodie and a Columbia hat, belts out the lyrics to the new song while also playing acoustic guitar.
“We’ve been burning both ends / keepin’ the lights on / I’ve been thinkin’ we need a little time alone / what cha say we cancel our plans / by the morning I’m gonna be your man / let’s get some candles burnin’ and some records turnin’ all the lights down low / take it nice and slow / the way your body’s movin’ / keep doin’ what you’re doin’ to me all night long / writin’ our love song / girl I want it / gotta have it / let the passion take us to a higher place / Makin’ the kind of love we make,” Combs sing in the clip.

Additionally, Combs officially began working on his forthcoming third studio album in early March 2021, which he announced on his 31st Birthday. And although he hasn’t shared an official release date for the album yet, he has been teasing fans with updates often on social media, including sharing songs that could potentially make the album. He’s shared songs such as “Five Leaf Clover,” “See Me Now,” “Ever Mine,” “We Still Drink Beer,” “Good Ol’ Days” and many more.
Combs’ upcoming new project will be the follow-up to his chart-topping, 2x Platinum 2019 album, What You See Is What You Get, and the 2020 deluxe edition of that dubbed, What You See Ain’t Always What You Get.
While an official release date hasn’t yet been announced, the country superstar hoped to have it out by the Fall of 2021.
“I mean, I’m going into the studio one more time. We should be done… By then I think we’re going in this month, I mean I guess it’s June now, and so we’re going in this month to do some more stuff,” Combs previously told Bobby Bones. “Once we get all those sorted, I don’t fall probably, I would hope. I guess it all just depends on some strategy involved in that release date, but I think it’s probably fall, I would hope.”
The country hitmaker will soon be honored at the upcoming CMT Artist Of The Year event in Nashville.
CMT’s Artist Of The Year will air live from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Wednesday, October 13 at 9/8c.
