Jimmie Allen and Jennifer Lopez joined forces for a new duet!

On Friday, May 27, the country superstar released “On My Way,’ a reimagined version of Lopez’ song featured on the soundtrack for her romantic comedy, Marry Me, which premiered in February 2022.

The pairing serves as a full-circle moment for Allen, who competed on American Idol in 2011, when Lopez was one of the judges on the show alongside Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler. “I meet @JLo for the first time in 2010 as a contestant on @AmericanIdol. Soon as I heard ‘I’m Real,’ I told myself one day we would do a song together and it happened. I’m honored to be a part of the reimagined version of ‘On My Way,”‘ Allen wrote.

Listen to the reimagined version of “Of My Way” below.

The tune appears on Allen’s upcoming third studio album, Tulip Drive, which will arrive on June 24 via BBR Music Group.

“On My Way” is one of several collaborations on Allen’s upcoming project, which will also feature duets with CeeLo Green, T-Pain, Katie Ohh and Dylan Scott.

Allen’s son Aadyn will also appear on the album, joining his father for “You Won’t Be Alone.”

The 17-song project gets its namesake from the street his grandmother grew up on called Tulip Drive.

Allen previously paid tribute to his family by naming other releases after members of his family who were influential to him throughout his life and career. In 2020, Allen released his album, Bettie James, which was named after his late grandmother, Bettie Snead, and his late father, James ‘Big Jim’ Allen. His 2018 debut album Mercury Lane was named after the street he grew up on further honoring his upbringing.

“This is the [first album] where a lot of the songs are actually written based off a lot of my own personal life experiences — from relationships, the hardships of life, to the parties & the good times,” Allen said of the project in a press release. “A lot of these songs are based off things I went through when I was in later in high school and college, at a place where I was just learning a lot of life lessons from my grandmother.”

“On My Way” follows Allen’s chart-topping hit “Freedom Was A Highway,” a duet with Brad Paisley.
