Country music newcomer, Laci Kaye Booth, recently released her first single to country radio, “Shuffle,” off her self-titled debut album. This single draws inspiration from other powerhouse female voices including Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood.

Co-written alongside Derrick Southerland and Sam Ellis, the idea for “Shuffle” came to Booth when pondering over her current relationship status as well as her grandparent’s love story. Within no time, a new “women of country” song was born.

“My grandma used to always sing karaoke, and she’d dedicate ‘Stand By Your Man’ to my grandpa,” Booth explained in a recent press release. “And I was reflecting on my own relationship and said to Sam and Derrick with a laugh I’m somewhere between ‘Stand By Your Man’ and ‘Goodbye Earl’ and we thought it was such a fun song idea.”

The Texas native worked hard growing up, to train her voice to match the uniqueness of other female artists, including Kacey Musgraves and Stevie Nicks. After years of watching and learning from her musical heroes, she has begun to prove herself as a talented young songwriter. This once introverted young girl, who stole the hearts of millions during her time on Season 17 of American Idol, has found great power and strength in her dreamy, hush vocals.

“Shuffle” mentions songs by Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, The Chicks, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Deana Carter, Jo Dee Messina, LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert and Pistol Annies within the lyrics.

“I’ll always love you, and you’re still the one to / Before he cheats and ready to run, I’m / In love with the boy, but this one’s for the girls / Between stand by your man and goodbye, Earl / My country playlist is real persuasive / Boy, you’re in trouble / My heart’s on shuffle, babe,” Booth sings in the chorus.

The heart of this single references Yearwood’s “She’s In Love With The Boy,” Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” Twain’s “You’re Still The One,” McBride’s “This One’s For The Girls,” The Chicks’ “Ready To Run” amongst many other songs by iconic country women.

On Friday (Sept. 24), the Big Machine Label Group artist released a dreamy acoustic version of her current radio single, “Shuffle,” after receiving a tremendous amount of positive support from her fans. The stripped down version of the track showcases Booth’s raw talent, as she sits with only her guitar and her mic in front of a bright blue background.

“Y’all’s love for Shuffle has been just incredible, so I wanted to release an acoustic version of it. Love how it turned out,” Booth captioned in a post on social media.

The lyric video showcases Booth in her Fleetwood Mac t-shirt, as she gives her audience an inside look at the recording process of the single, where the true magic happened and the song was given life.

“Shuffle” appears on Booth’s Dan Huff-produced debut project, an album that features eight tracks, each of which were co-written by the Texas native alongside an impressive list of co-writers. The album even includes a duet alongside Lady A’s Charles Kelley called “Broken Heart Still Beats.”

“My whole life, I prayed, and I wished for this to happen. I prayed for it every night, and every time I’d blow out my candles on my birthday cake, I’d wish for it,” Laci shares in a statement. “In my heart of hearts, this is exactly what I always wanted.”
