Koe Wetzel became a dad just last month, when he and girlfriend Bailey Fisher welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Woods Madison Wetzel.

Koe Wetzel Opens Up About Fatherhood At Recent Concert

During a recent show, Wetzel opened up about fatherhood, speaking to the crowd before he played his song “Good Times,” which is about breaking away from old habits.

“I’m older and wiser, I’m not drinking as much,” he said. “I had a baby girl last week! She’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever put my eyes on, and she’s an absolute blessing. I get just about as much sleep now as I was when I was getting f—ed up all the time, so it balances itself out a little bit.”

Admitted That He Was “Terrified” And “Excited” To Become A Dad

Ahead of Woods’ arrival, Wetzel shared on the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast that he was both “terrified” and “excited” to become a dad, two feelings most new parents can probably relate to. “There are so many emotions right now,” he said, “It’s real.”

He added that Woods is “gonna grow up spoiled.” “She’s got so many people that love her. She’s got a bunch of mean uncles,” he shared. “It’s gonna be a lot of fun. We’re pumped.”

Wetzel continued. “I’m excited because it’s gonna be such a big change for me. I’m gonna be a girl dad. That’s what I told Bailey at the time, I said, ‘You know, I don’t think I need to be softened up any.’”

How Did Koe Wetzel Meet His Girlfriend Bailey Fisher?

Koe Wetzel and Bailey Fisher shared in January that they were expecting a baby together, and Wetzel further opened up about their relationship on the podcast. “We met in college. We’ve kind of been on and off for the last 10 years or whatever,” he said. “I don’t know, it just kind of came back around. It’s a wild story. It’s crazy.”

He also reflected on the timing of his baby girl’s arrival, noting that he feels much more settled than he might have a decade ago and more ready than ever to become a father.

“I’m about to be 33 in July, and kind of settling down and stuff, I don’t think it could have happened at a better time,” he said. “This could have happened back when I was 23 or 24 acting the way I was and not having a dollar to my name.”

Wetzel Is Becoming More Mature As His Career Continues To Grow

Additionally, maturing has helped him realize just how many people are counting on him as his career continues to build.

“It used to be all about the party and just playing music and trying to get enough money to get to the next show. Now, I have so many people that are looking up to me to get paid and to live life,” he said. “It’s kind of me stepping back and looking at it and going, ‘Hey, you know, this is a lot bigger than you are now.’”

Woods was born on May 23, and Wetzel canceled his appearances on the opening weekend of HARDY’s Jim Bob World Tour to be there for his daughter’s birth. Now that she’s here, Wetzel’s schedule might be up in the air.

“I don’t really have any plans (to slow down) right now…. I’m sure once I see that baby girl, I’m probably gonna rethink it a little bit,” he said on the podcast. “But I love playing music. I love being out on the road.”
