While making the media rounds in support of her new album, Chemistry, Kelly Clarkson addressed the long-standing rumor that she and Carrie Underwood have “beef.”

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Clarkson took questions from fans calling into the show. One fan asked her about Underwood and before the caller could finish asking the question, Clarkson said, “I think I know where you’re going with this.”

She continued, “People always pit us together, and we don’t even know each other well enough to be pitted together.”

The “Since U Been Gone” singer went on to explain that the pair of GRAMMY winning singers have only crossed paths a few times since they both rose to fame on American Idol.

“Like literally, we’ve run into each other a handful of times and we’ve not, there’s no beef between us,” she insisted. Well, nothing between…We don’t know each other, so we’ve literally run into each other a few times.”

The caller later clarified that she phoned in to ask about Underwood being on The Kelly Clarkson Show, not about the rumored “beef” between them.

After getting up to get a drink, Clarkson laughed and shared, “It was awesome. It was great to have her on the show. I think the thing that was cool about it is, is that everybody always pits us against each other, and I don’t know why they do that. They don’t do that with dudes.”

Underwood appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in December of 2020 in support of her Christmas album, My Gift. Unfortunately, due to the state of the world at the time, Underwood had to appear virtually.

“I think I’d love to have her there in person. It was like during Covid, so it was over Zoom,” Clarkson explained. “Yes. Which is fine, but it’d be cool.”

Clarkson Previously Shut Down The Feud Rumors In 2018

This isn’t the first time Kelly Clarkson shut down rumors of a feud with Carrie Underwood. In June of 2018, while walking the Radio Disney Music Awards red carpet, Clarkson also told Entertainment Tonight’s Katie Krause that’s there’s no bad blood between the pair.

“Everybody always tries to put me and Carrie against each other. So then when I saw her I was like, you know what, let’s just end this right now and get a picture together because we never are in the same place,” Clarkson shared. “People always try and put it together. We’re like enemies. I’m like, we don’t even know each other Well, I’d have to be enemies. So anyway, I went to get a picture and then everybody lost their mind.”

Las Vegas Residency, Chemistry…An Intimate Night With Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson is currently gearing up to launch her 10-date Las Vegas residency, dubbed Chemistry…An Intimate Night With Kelly Clarkson, on July 28 at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

“I am so excited for these shows and couldn’t think of a better place to get back on stage than Las Vegas! The crowds in Vegas are such an amazing collection of people that simply want to have a great time and that’s what we’re going to do!” said Kelly Clarkson via a press release. “So many of my musical idols have had, and still have, incredible residencies on The Strip, and I’m so excited to create my own!”

Chemistry…An Intimate Night with Kelly Clarkson, which runs through August 19, will feature a set list full of Clarkson’s biggest hits and a unique, intimate production that was built specifically for the venue, formerly known as Zappos Theater.

“I’ll be straight up: I’m gonna be that artist who’s definitely gonna give you all those songs you want to hear, because I hate when I go to shows and people don’t give me that,” Clarkson told Billboard. “So you’re gonna hear all the ones that, honestly, we haven’t performed in forever. We haven’t been able to!”

During the interview with Billboard, Clarkson also promised that “all 10 shows will be different,” and that “there’s definitely gonna be the hits in all of them, but we’re sprinkling in covers that people have liked or album tracks that people have liked here and there. … I’m going to hit all the [new] album, just on different nights.”

Underwood was the very first artist to grace the Resorts World Theatre stage when she made her debut at the 5,000-seat theatre with a sold-out show on Dec. 1, 2021. With several costume changes and state-of-the-art production, REFLECTION quickly became a must-see Las Vegas residency.

“REFLECTION is a show I’m so proud of and have so much fun performing. I love being out on the road with THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR and look forward to returning to Vegas once that wraps, as it has become our home away from home where we get to play to audiences from all over the world,” Underwood previously shared.
