Keith Urban said “it’s been nice” having his daughters on tour with him. Urban discussed bringing his daughters on the road with him while co-hosting Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton on Sept. 10 and 11.

“[My girls have] been out, I’ve been taking them out at different times individually, and it’s been great to have them out on the bus,” Urban told Helton. “They love the bus, and I would too at that age. Just the idea of traveling and sleeping in the bunks. But it’s been nice having them out there.”

Urban is currently performing on his The Speed Of Now World Tour, which wraps on Dec. 17 in Melbourne, Australia at the Rod Laver Arena.

In addition to discussing bringing his daughters on tour with him, Urban shared more about his tradition of going into the crowd during his shows and if he has any concerns about getting close to fans due to COVID-19.

“The fact that [the shows are] outdoors helps. The fact that I move quickly in the audience helps. But I love being out in the crowd, and it was hard to not do that,” Urban explained. “I was anxious to get out in the summer sheds.  We’ve been lucky to get to do that on this tour, and knock on wood we get to keep doing that.”

But Urban hasn’t just been walking through the crowd at his shows. During an August concert in Orange Beach, Alabama, the “Brown Eyes Baby” singer invited a military couple up on stage and helped them reveal their baby’s gender.

At another concert, Urban serenaded a fan with “Happy Birthday,” and at a third concert, he brought two sisters on stage to have them call their brother. Urban left a hilarious voicemail asking the pair’s brother, Adam, “where the hell are you?”

Of course, Urban isn’t just touring, he’s also working on new music. Urban released his current single, “Brown Eyes Baby” back in July. The song was co-written by Will Bundy, Rodney Clawson, Josh Thompson, and Morgan Wallen. The song is a follow-up to previous single, “Wild Hearts.”

For Urban, the two songs represent “a thematic creative context” for his next project.

“‘Wild Hearts’” is the first single, ‘Brown Eyes Baby’ is the second single. There’s somewhat of a thematic creative context that I started to find songs coming towards what will be this next project. That’s somewhat of the common thread that’s coming in this next album,” he said.

Urban’s The Speed Of Now Tour features support from Tyler Hubbard and Ingrid Andress.

Urban shares daughters Faith and Sunday with his wife, actress, Nicole Kidman.
