Keith Urban said it was “empowering” and “liberating” to wear a kilt during his recent concert in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Urban shared his comments regarding wearing a kilt on stage during an appearance on Australia’s popular breakfast show, Sunrise on 7.

“Tell us the story behind these kilts in Edinburgh,” Sunrise on 7 news anchor, David Koch asked Urban. “Did they pose a bit of a hazard on stage at all?”
“Only for the people in the front row, I think,” Urban responded.
“So you went full Scottish?” Koch continued.
“Yeah, beware of flying objects,” Urban shared, laughing, before labeling the experience as both “liberating” and “empowering.” Urban’s mother has Scottish heritage, which is what prompted him to wear the kilt on stage, he also explained.
Following the concert, Urban posted photos of himself and his band wearing the kilts to his Instagram page. “EDINBURGH!!!!! You made a Monday night feel like a Friday!,” Urban wrote. “It was an honor to don the kilt – the guys and I truly felt like we could take on the world!! But most importantly, it allowed me to fully embrace my mother’s heritage. Long live the McKinnons!!! Thank you for a great end to this run and I’m already looking forward to the day we’re back,” he concluded, adding a Scottish flag emoji and tagging the photographer who took the shots.
Urban just wrapped the European leg of his Speed Of Now Tour and will be heading back to the U.S. for three nights at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Place in Las Vegas. After that, he’ll be performing at CMA Fest 2022 in Nashville and then embarking on the U.S. leg of the Speed Of Now Tour starting Jun. 17 in Tampa, Florida. In addition to his performances in the U.S., Urban will also play two concerts in Canada before concluding his Speed Of Now Tour on Dec. 17 in Melbourne, Australia at Rod Laver Arena.
Besides Edinburgh, Urban also stopped by Newcastle, Birmingham, and Manchester on the U.K. leg of his tour.
In Manchester, Urban invited the UK-based reggae band, Ruff Trade to sing with him on stage.
In addition to his tour, Urban also recently wrapped his gig as a coach on The Voice Australia.
