Kate Hudson is gearing up to launch a career in music and revealed that she has an album on the way that she’s “really proud of.”

The 43-year-old award-winning actress, best known for her lead roles in Almost Famous, You, Me and Dupree and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, is currently forming a team for her musical journey and preparing to release her debut album.

According to Variety, Hudson recently signed with Jason Owen and his Nashville-based management firm Sandbox Entertainment Group, joining a roster of country superstars, including Kacey Musgraves, Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini and Faith Hill. Sandbox will “exclusively manage [Kate Hudson’s] musical endeavors,” the publication reported.

Upon signing Hudson, Jason Owen, who is the Founder and President of Sandbox, praised her talents as a “multifaceted entertainer.”

“Kate Hudson is a superstar of our generation. Much like other icons in film and stage — from Judy Garland to Lady Gaga — Kate is a multifaceted entertainer who clearly has a deep connection to music,” Owen told the outlet. “I could not be more honored and excited to help bring her brilliant music to the world and to work with such an incredible talent but mostly a such wonderful person. Big things are coming.”

Hudson shared a statement with the outlet, sharing that “Music has always been my touchstone. To finally feel ready to share mine is deeply personal to me, almost like a musical memoir. Writing this album over the past year and a half has been the most gratifying and immersive experience and I couldn’t be more excited to partner with Jason to bring it into the world. I can’t wait to hit the ground running with him on this and other creative ventures.”

In January of 2022, Hudson allowed her powerhouse vocals to shine during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s reality game show, That’s My Jam. During the show, Hudson took part in the ‘Musical Genre Challenge,’ where she was tasked to perform a Doo-Wop version of Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings.”

Prior to singing the Grande hit, Hudson showcased her impressive voice with some vocal runs that had viewers jaws dropping.

Nearly one year later, the California native and Glass Onion actress returned to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she revealed that she has been writing music and working on her debut album.

“I love to sing,” Hudson told Fallon at the time. “I feel weird saying it… I’ve been making a record for like a year. It’s so fun.”

During her appearance on the show, Hudson shared that she has been writing music since she was a teenager, but she has never showcased her work and during the global health crisis she realized that she wanted to live her life with no regrets.

“You know, I had this thing [during] COVID… Every time you’re doing interviews, people are like, ‘Do you have any regrets?’ I go, ‘I’m early 40s… not yet.’ But during COVID, I was like, ‘You know, what am I doing?’” Hudson revealed.

The Fabletics co-founder went on to share, “I’ve been writing music since I was 19 and I’ve never shared it and so I thought that would be one of my great regrets. I have no expectations… just want to put a record out and so I’m doing it and I’m really excited. I can’t wait.”

Additionally, She confirmed that the album would be released in 2023 during their discussion.

While this may be Hudson’s first official solo music project, it’s not her first time singing. She was born into a musical family, her Father William Louis Hudson Jr performed as part of The Hudson Brothers alongside his siblings from the 1960s through the early 1980s.

In addition to being born into a musical family, Hudson also has allowed her singing voice to shine with several singing roles within her acting career.

Kate Hudson appeared as a singer on the popular TV series, Glee, and performed Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” with Matthew McConaughey in 2003’s How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. She also had a singing role in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Nine, during which she performed “Cinema Italiano” as a main cast member. The famed actress also appeared in the 2021 Sia-directed American musical drama film, Music, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
