Kane Brown isn’t just a successful country artist, he’s also a devoted dad to daughters, Kingsley Rose, 3, and Kodi Jane, 1.
And during a recent interview with ET Canada, Brown shared just what his two little girls mean to him.
“It’s amazing,” Brown said of being a dad to Kingsley Rose and Kodi Jane. “My one-year-old has a crazy personality now, smiling all the time saying daddy. My three-year-old tells me she loves me if I get her juice.”
“‘I love you, Dad’ is like the best feeling in the world and just playing and running around the house. Her scream is so loud. It hurts your ears, but it’s just fun,” he told the outlet.
Brown also revealed the way he gets Kodi Jane to stop crying: by playing his song, “Thank God,” which features his wife, Katelyn.
“Well, it’s funny because I have people tell me all the time that my music makes their kids stop crying, so when our one-year-old’s crying, we put on ‘Thank God’ and immediately, she stops,” Brown explained.
“It’s cool just to see them watch me on TV, but now they get to watch me and their mom, so that’s the best part.”
Kane Recently Earn His Ninth No. 1 Hit With “Thank God“
Brown scored his ninth career No. 1 with “Thank God” on Feb. 11. The song marked his wife Katelyn’s first No. 1 and the Browns are only the second married couple to snag a No. 1 song together since Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s “It’s Your Love” went No. 1 in 1997.
The couple starred in the music video for the song and also performed their No. 1 together overseas during a recent stop on Brown’s Drunk Or Dreaming Tour. Brown told ET Canada Katelyn was a bit nervous to perform the song live but “she [was] gonna be alright.”
At the time, the pair had not yet played the song for Brown’s U.S. fans, the outlet indicated.
Kane Said His New Music Will Be “A Little Bit Darker“
And in discussing music with the outlet, Brown offered his fans a glimpse into his current songwriting process.
Brown said the songs he’s writing are “a little bit darker” and focus on the topic of mental health.
“Recently, I’ve been writing a lot of music. I actually wrote three the other day,” the “Different Man” singer said. “I’m super excited about this new music, so I’m just going to keep writing. I will say I have a couple songs that are a little bit darker about mental health, and then I have a song called ‘Learning,’ that I went a little bit more in depth over the stuff that I went through, so I’m really excited about the music that we’re writing right now.”
Brown previously shared that his struggles with depression and anxiety were the reason for his hiatus from music in 2020/2021. He also released “Memory” with Blackbear in July of 2021, which is a song that touches on topics of mental health and escaping from the pains life throws at you.
“I’ve always been pretty open about that stuff and the longer I’m in the business, I just get more and more comfortable [talking about it], but a lot of people are talking about it now, and I think it’s making it a little bit easier for other people to talk about it, as well,” he continued.
In addition, Brown explained how he fits songwriting into his busy schedule.
“If we write on the road, we write on the bus. It’s rare that we do, but if I don’t write for a long period of time, I start itching, so we just did it in Europe recently, and I got a lot of songs out there with some people from my publishing team,” he shared.
Besides writing and doting on his girls, Brown is playing shows on his current Drunk or Dreaming Tour with some festival dates lined up for the summer. He’ll also be co-hosting the 2023 CMT Awards alongside fellow country singer, Kelsea Ballerini.
