Jordan Davis said fellow country artist Luke Bryan is “truly the most genuine, humble guy” during a recent interview.
Davis spoke with Access Hollywood back in March on the red carpet before this year’s ACM Awards where Davis and Bryan sang a duet of their multi-week chart-topping song, “Buy Dirt.”
“What you see is what you get with Luke,” Davis shared. “There’s no like act or that’s performer Luke Bryan and not guy you go duck hunt with, I mean, he is, he is truly the most genuine, humble guy I’ve ever met, and I’m very, very grateful he’s on [Buy Dirt] with me” he added.
In addition to performing the song together at the ACMs, Davis and Bryan were nominated for Single Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Music Event Of The Year for their collaboration. Unfortunately Davis and Bryan didn’t win any of the awards, losing Single Of The Year to Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood (“If I Didn’t Love You”), Song Of The Year to Lainey Wilson (“Things A Man Oughta Know”), and Music Event Of The Year to Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde (“Never Wanted To Be That Girl”).
The song, which was written by Davis and his brother Jacob Davis alongside Matt Jenkins and Josh Jenkins, appears on Davis’ EP of the same name.
Davis and Bryan released an acoustic, stripped-down version of their duet back in Oct. 2021. The song was nominated at the 2021 CMA Awards for Musical Event Of The Year, but ultimately lost to Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney’s collaboration, “half of my hometown.”
In April 2022, fellow country singer Luke Combs covered Davis and Bryan’s collaboration, posting a video with his rendition of the song on social media.
Fans excitedly lapped up Combs’ cover of the song, leading them to wonder if he was planning to announce a tour with Davis. Combs confirmed fans’ suspicions, announcing that Davis would be joining his fall Middle Of Somewhere Tour as direct support.
Davis said he was “stoked” to be touring with Combs in a subsequent social media post. In the meantime, Davis is currently headlining his own Buy Dirt Tour.
Meanwhile, Bryan is preparing to hit the road in June with his Raised Up Right Tour and currently serves as a judge on ABC’s American Idol.
