It may be summertime, but that isn’t stopping Jon Pardi from getting into the holiday spirit.
Back in February, the “Mr. Saturday Night” singer revealed he was working on a Christmas album that will feature countrified versions of popular holiday tunes, including Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and The Eagles’ “Please Come Home For Christmas.”
Pardi shared more about the project, saying it was “one of the coolest things [he’s] been part of” according to CMT.
“A Banger Christmas Record“
“It’s going to be a banger Christmas record,” the 38-year-old country singer said, according to the outlet.
“Oh, man. We got some original songs there. [It] looks good. And we say, we did ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’ by The Eagles. Oh, it’s like completely different. It’s very Elvis and it’s really cool.”
“One of the coolest things actually, the Christmas record. One of the coolest things I’ve been a part of. Very. That’s awesome. Very hard to sing. We did a honky tonk version of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah [Carey],” he added.
In addition to teasing which songs fans can expect to hear on the project, Pardi said that while the album is a Christmas record, it doesn’t necessarily feel like one, making it the perfect all-year-round listen.
“You can listen to [my Christmas record] all the time, which is awesome. It has a feeling like you don’t really think it’s a Christmas record, but it’s a Christmas record, so it has that vibe. So it makes it a lot easier. I was like, ‘I ain’t singing ‘Silent Night’ or ‘Little Drummer Boy,’” he explained.
Describing the mood of the album in a bit more detail, Pardi called it “Christmas with a drink,” the outlet indicated.
“It’s very up-tempo and fun. I feel like there’s all kinds of weird Christmas songs that everybody does. It’s a merry Christmas party,” he continued.
At the time, the “Mr. Saturday Night” singer also said he’d hoped to finish the project by May.
“We’re trying to get done by May 1st,” he said, adding, “That’s our goal.”
Another Exciting Milestone
While Pardi hasn’t given any updates on his Christmas album or announced a release date for the project, he did reach another exciting milestone this year: fatherhood.
Pardi and his wife, Summer welcomed their first child, daughter Presley Fawn Pardi into the world back in February.
Pardi’s wife Summer shared a video to her Instagram profile in September revealing she told the country singer they were expecting by taping the positive pregnancy test and a “Baby On Board” sign to the back of their new boat.
“We had just gotten our new boat and i said there was a big scratch on the back of it. Even with the baby on board sign AND pregnancy test he still didn’t get it.. he thought i was just making fun of him because the boat was his new baby 🤦🏼♀️ 5 minutes later he was blasting baby shark in the kitchen, already thriving hahah,” Summer captioned the emotional clip set to Ruelle’s song, “I Get To Love You.”
The couple also shared a series of shots from an exclusive People photoshoot announcing their pregnancy to their respective Instagram accounts.
“Welllll, it happened. No plans, no timing, just a gift from God. I’m ready for it!,” Pardi wrote.
New Album And Tour
On the musical side of the world, Pardi released his fourth studio album, Mr. Saturday Night, which features 14 tracks, including his single of the same name.
He recently played this year’s CMA Fest and will make appearances at various festivals this summer before kicking off his World Tour in the U.K. in late August.
