John Rich Releases New Song “I’m Offended” From Politically-Charged New Album, ‘The Country Truth’

“I’m offended, you’re offended / Let’s all get offended tonight / I’ll order us a beer, and we can sit down here / And scream and yell and cuss and fuss and fight,” the Big & Rich star sings in the chorus.

John Rich is playing up the sarcasm in his recently released song, “I’m Offended.” The humor-driven track belongs on his brand-new album, titled The Country Truth, which dropped at midnight on Friday (Aug. 18).

“I’m Offended,” which arrived earlier this year in promotion for Rich’s latest album, finds the singer/songwriter and outspoken conservative using a light-hearted approach to airing out his frustrations over the state of the country. In the song, he shares a message that folks have become easily outraged with each other over one another’s choices, use of language, opinions, and set of beliefs.

I’m offended, you’re offended / Let’s all get offended tonight / I’ll order us a beer, and we can sit down here / And scream and yell and cuss and fuss and fight,” the Big & Rich star sings in the chorus.

Coinciding with the album’s release, Rich premiered the accompanying video for “I’m Offended.” The opening sequence of the clip begins with a warning that “some people may find the following video to be offensive” before it segues to Rich performing his song with a full band amid a backdrop featuring a character playing a politician, presumably the role of Joe Biden.

The video, which premiered on YouTube, Rumble, Twitter, and Truth Social, then goes on to capture scenes that poke fun at ‘woke’ and ‘cancel culture’ with subtle references to controversial topics that have been in the news over the past twelve months.

One actor drinks out of a beer can labeled “sissy beer” while sporting a T-shirt reading the words, “Be A Male” spread across the front. The scene is likely a nod to Rich’s response in April, which saw him pulling Bud Light from his Nashville bar, Redneck Riviera, in response to the marketing campaign that featured transgender TikTok star, Dylan Mulvaney.

Other areas of the clip highlight people’s opinions on other issues and personal freedoms, from gun rights to mask-wearing, and more. In addition, the clip guest-stars My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, who, in 2022, shared wishes to run for the Republican Party. But, overall, Rich’s message to the public is to try to get along and have a sense of humor as the country has become more divided than ever before.

“It might be the funniest song I’ve ever written,” Rich told FoxNews earlier this year. “It is absolutely hilarious [and] It is hysterical. I shot the music video on it last week, so we’re working on that and getting that done. And, it basically talks about the culture that we’re in and that everybody is offended about everything all the time.”

“I remember back in the day when I was growing up, we had shows like Archie Bunker and The JeffersonsMarried With Children, remember that comedy? I mean, there were all kinds of stuff going on those shows that those shows wouldn’t be allowed to exist today. Cancel Culture would wipe those out.”

Rich’s album and video release follows the success of fellow politically-charged songs like Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town” and recently-unknown artist Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond,” both of which went to No. 1 on the iTunes chart. The latter of the two has been streamed more than 11 million times in its first week on Spotify.

Rich wrote “I’m Offended” with Bobby Pinson and Vicky McGehe. On the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Rich shared his excitement for taking the top spot on the iTunes album chart and congratulated Anthony for his recent No. 1 success.

“Oliver Anthony has the #1 song in America, and I have the #1 record, and neither of us has record deals. I texted Oliver to congratulate him, and he responded, “God is good!” Yes, Hh is my friend. Yes, he is. Thank you to all the supporters of our music. It’s truly humbling,” he captioned.

The Country Truth

As for the record, Rich shared in a press release: “The Country Truth is a record full of songs I’ve written from the honest and unapologetic perspective of a patriotic American man living through one of the most tumultuous times in history.

This collection of songs will make you laugh, cry and ponder where we’ve been, where we are today, and where we’re going. I think The Country Truth is some of my best pieces of work to date, and I hope it becomes something people really latch on to and love from beginning to end.”

Rich’s The Country Truth album follows his last four single releases, which all went No. 1 on sales charts. Elsewhere, on the album, listeners will find him addressing topics head-on, whether it is a veteran’s war story, a medical crisis, a political play, or just plain fun.
