Jackson Dean is sharing his reaction to Kelly Clarkson’s insane cover version of one of his most popular songs!

On Thursday (Oct. 20), the Odenton, Maryland native took to social media to let fans know that he was about to view the original American Idol winner’s take on his tune “Don’t Come Lookin’.” Dean added that this was his “virgin reaction” to the performance, meaning he had never watched it prior that instance.

While checking out Clarkson’s cover from the comfort of a vintage sofa, Dean can’t help but show off his smile. He appears to be flattered by Clarkson’s gesture to sing his song, putting his hand over his mouth multiple times. At one point, Jackson starts to bob his head along to Clarkson’s version of the tune and uses his arms to play a bit of air guitar.

“When @kellyclarkson covers your song @KellyClarksonTV #dontcomelookin #countrymusic #duet #kellyoke,” Jackson tweeted alongside the clip, where he also threw out the idea of a duet with Clarkson using the hashtag “duet.”

Needless to say, Jackson was all smiles as he watched Clarkson’s cover and seemed thoroughly impressed and beyond thrilled that she chose to spotlight his music.

Clarkson’s cover of Dean’s debut smash took place on an Oct. 19th edition of her hit daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. The superstar host incorporated the performance into her popular “Kellyoke” segment.

In previous episodes, she has put her powerhouse vocals on songs like “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean, “Any Man of Mine” by Shania Twain, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Traitor,” and the Judds’ “Why Not Me.”

Got a head full of noise/ About a hundred different things I’m tryna avoid/ I got a mind in the gutter/ Got trouble on one hand, a beer in the other/ Got the windows down and my fingers crossed/ Just lookin’ for a brand new way to get lost/ So long, four wheels turning/ Got a tank full of gas, down the road, I’m burning/ Can’t say I would and I can’t say I wouldn’t/ If I don’t come back, don’t come lookin’,” Clarkson sang putting a female spin on the tune with her signature voice, while backed by her house band, Y’all.

Although Dean hadn’t yet posted his expressive response, he initially tweeted a portion of the performance and added the tweet, “Thanks for doin it justice [Kelly Clarkson].”

Dean also previously opened up about his song in a press release, saying, “I’ve been writing and living this song kind of my whole life—when I’d leave the house to go run through the woods, I’d tell my mom, ‘if I don’t come back, don’t come lookin’’ so to see people react to it this way means a lot. I hope it ignites a feeling of escapism and freedom.”

Dean’s “Don’t Come Lookin’,” which he wrote with songwriter and producer Luke Dick, appears as the lead single from his debut studio album, Greenbroke. The track has become the singer-songwriter’s first hit, appearing in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The tune has also been featured on the popular drama, Yellowstone, which streams on the Paramount Network.
