Carrie Underwood released her first-ever Christmas album, My Gift, on Friday (Sept. 24).

The holiday project features a duet of the classic Christmas tune “Little Drummer Boy” with her 5-year-old son Isaiah.

“Whenever I think of that song, I picture his face and his personality. That is so him,” she told TODAY hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin. “He would be the kid that would make you something and bring it to you because that’s what he had to give you. And that’s the whole sentiment behind ‘Little Drummer Boy’ is bringing what he has to Jesus, which is why I wanted to name the album My Gift.”

Underwood continued to say that she was the “proudest mom in the world” and that she helped him get “all his little 5-year-old emotions” out on the song.

“He was just so expressive. When I heard the song back with his sweet little voice on it, I was laughing and crying and just [had] so many emotions,” she gushed. “I’m so proud of him.”

“Little Drummer Boy” was originally known as “Carol of the Drum” and was co-written by American classical music composer and teacher Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941.

The album boasts of 11-tracks and 1 additional collaboration with John Legend. The country superstar gave a new life to the holiday favorites: “Silent Night,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and others. “Hallelujah,” will feature John Legend.
