“I Would’ve Loved You” was co-written by Hoot alongside Dean Sams (Lonestar) and Jamie Floyd. Once he wrote the song, he immediately knew that Clarkson would be the perfect pairing for the collaboration.
“I Would’ve Loved You is a song about how the choices we make and the consequences that follow,” Hoot explained of the collaboration. “It is a story about someone who has so much love to give, but due to the other person’s decisions, that love turns into a hate that lasts forever. I am so honored to have written this song with Jamie Floyd and Dean Sams, who are both incredible writers. I am beyond thankful to Kelly Clarkson for believing in me and recording this song with me! Can’t wait for y’all to hear it!“
Hoot and Clarkson also filmed a music video for the forthcoming new song that is set for release in early February.
The duet will serve as the lead single on Hoot’s forthcoming new EP, Love Out Of Time, which is available for pre-order now and will be released on January 27.
