HARDY’s star-studded project, Hixtape Vol 2 has blown country music fans out of the water so far, as Dierks Bentley, Matt Stell, Jon Pardi, Larry Fleet and more have all made their grand appearances. And it doesn’t stop there as the “One Beer” singer is dropping a new collaboration from the project every Friday leading up to the album release.
This Friday, October 1, the country superstar released his up-tempo single “To Hank” with Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford. The track serves as the perfect toast and tribute to Hank Williams Sr. and his son, Hank Williams Jr. The song is a tribute not just to the two legendary country singers, but to the soundtrack of Country life their music became.
Throughout the just-released anthem, the men name-drop legendary hits from the two country icons, including “Country State of Mind,” “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound,” “Hey Good Lookin,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” and several more of their iconic top-charting hits.
“Thanks for the whiskey bents and hell bounds/ And all those nights just riding around/ to the soundtrack of my life/ Man we had us some nights/ Between outlaw women and my rowdy friends/ Every song you sang it just seemed to fit/ Like a Chevy on a riverbank/ No telling how many Beers I drank… To Hank,” sings the rowdy group in the chorus.
Ben Hayslip and Chase McGill are the masterminds behind “To Hank.” The banger was also co-produced by award-winning Joey Moi and Derek Wells. The toe-tapping melody marks HARDY’s fourth release from the album’s 14 song track list.
Listen to the anthemic new collaboration below.
The collection will feature 33 artists/bands, however, HARDY will only be singing on six of the tracks. Along with Bentley, Stell, Pardi, Fleet, Gilbert and Ford, music-goers could also expect to hear – Ashland Craft, Ben Burgess, Brothers Osborne, Chase Rice, Chris Lane, Chris Shiflett, David Lee Murphy, ERNEST, Granger Smith, Jake Owen, Jake Worthington, Jimmie Allen, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Lainey Wilson, Marty Stuart, Midland, Randy Houser, Rhett Akins, Ronnie Dunn, Sean Stemaly, The Cadillac Three, and Travis Denning on the project.
“I know a lot of y’all have been asking when Hixtape No.2 is coming out. Look Hixtape No.1 was awesome, 10 songs, 16 of my good friends, I sang every single song,“ HARDY shared on Instagram. “This time, we’re going to do it a little bit different. Get this, 33 artists and bands, 14-songs. Now, I’m only singing on 6-songs, but the rest of the songs are awesome, and it’s people singing that are some of the most talented and rowdiest people Nashville has to offer, and here’s what we’re going to do,” he adds.
He warned his crazy fan base on social media to buckle up, “I’m telling you right now, you ain’t ready for this one!” Until the breakthrough star drops the full-length record – he is not leaving music-goers hanging. As of right now, “Hometown Boys,” “WD-40 4WD,” “In Love With My Problems,” and “To Hank” are all available to stream.
