Gary Allan has parted ways with his longtime record label.
The California native shared the news with fans via social media on Friday, July 29.
“For the last 25 years plus, UMG Nashville has been my record label home. I am very thankful to the staff members at Decca, MCA, and EMI for the belief and support they have had in me, but it is now time for a new adventure,” he wrote. “I am excited for what the future holds and look forward to sharing more news soon.”
Gary Allan is known for hits such as “Songs About Rain,” “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful,” “Watching Airplanes,” “Best I Ever Had,” and more.
During his time with UMG Nashville imprints Decca, MCA and EMI, Allan released 10 studio albums, including Used Heart for Sale (1996), It Would Be You (1998), Smoke Rings in the Dark (1999), Alright Guy (2001), See If I Care (2003), Tough All Over (2005), Living Hard (2007), Get Off on the Pain (2010), Set You Free (2013), and his latest project, Ruthless (2021).
Ruthless marked Allan’s first new album since the release of Set You Free in 2013.
Allan also released two greatest hits albums during his time with the label.
Four of Allan’s singles have reached the top of the Billboard charts, including “Man to Man”, “Tough Little Boys” (both in 2003), “Nothing On but the Radio” (2004), and “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)” (2013).
Eight of Allan’s other singles have reached the Top 10.
Gary Allan is currently in the midst of his Ruthless Tour, celebrating his 25-year career and more than 8 million album sales as well as nearly 3 billion streams across all platforms.
