Gabby Barrett‘s marriage to husband Cade Foehner is one of the most important things in her life, along with her Christian faith. In a new episode of Dan + Shay member Shay Mooney’s wife, Hannah’s podcast Unexpected with Hannah Love, Barrett discussed both her marriage and her music career, as well as the ways that they intertwine in her life.

Responds To Claims Of Her Marriage “Ruining Her Career”

The 23-year-old told Hannah that while a number of fans and people she knows have expressed concern over her dedication to her faith and her decision to prioritize her faith and family over her career, it’s not something she gets affected by.

“I have tons of people say to me, or [text] me, or have commented about me and said, ‘She’s ruining her career by talking about these things, and by X, Y and Z,” Barrett said. “Because I treasure a Godly marriage over anything the world could offer.”

The singer, whose pregnant with her third child, added, “I know where I’m going. I know who I’m gonna see…who I’m gonna answer to. And those people are gonna have to answer to Him too. So I’m trying to do the best with what I’ve been given for Him.”

Explains That Her Faith Made It Easier To Not Waver Her Decisions

She also explained that her steadfast belief in her faith has made it easier for her not to waver on her decisions.

“I’m thankful for that in this industry,” she said. “It would be so difficult if (my faith) was just like a wavering thing all the time. But He’s given me the spirit, and it’s really helped me to be very firm, no matter what the push is from outside industry and outside people.”

Foehner performs with Barrett as part of her band, and Barrett told Hannah how thankful she is that her husband is a part of her musical journey in that way.

“I’m really thankful that God has worked that out to where we’re compatible in music,” she said. “We do so much music together, and then we’re so much on the same page about the Lord and about what our mission is in music, and trusting that God will keep our hearts pointed in the right direction by reading his word and by always renewing our minds with it.”

“Really Thankful” For Her Husband Cade Foehner

Along with her husband, the “Glory Days” singer expressed her gratitude for like-minded people around her. “It would be nearly impossible to be a Christian and not seek counsel from other people, have the right people around you, and most importantly, to have God’s word in front of you and to constantly be in that, to have that be like your center point, your north on your compass,” she said. “So that’s really what I do, and I’m really thankful to have a husband that helps and balances this so much more. I couldn’t imagine doing it all by myself.”

Barrett and Foehner are currently expecting their third child, a daughter due in February, who will join big sister Baylah May, who turns 3 in January, and brother Augustine Boone, 1. Barrett’s second album, Chapter & Verse, will also arrive in February.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the People’s Choice Country Awards in September, Barrett shared that she’s most excited for “Having another girl and another girl personality in the house” when her third child arrives.

“My first was a girl, second was a boy, third will be a girl again. So love girls, love raising my first one,” she shared. “So, lots of personalities in the house.”
