Drew Baldridge achieved a historic milestone with his first-ever No. 1 hit with “She’s Somebody Daughter,” becoming the first independent artist to earn a chart-topping hit without any label support.

Drew Baldridge Celebrates Historic No. 1 Hit

Upon hearing the news, the country star quickly took to social media to celebrate with an emotional message to fans and Country radio.

“HOLY CRAP!! She’s Somebody’s Daughter is the number 1 song in the WHOLE COUNTRY!!” Baldridge captioned the heartfelt clip. The clip shows Baldridge seated at a picnic table outside a concert venue in Du Quoin, Illinois, where he graciously thanks everyone for supporting him and his music.

“Hey guys, it’s Drew here and we’ve officially did it! We’ve officially made history. We are the first artist to ever independently get their first No. 1 song, and I just can’t believe it,” he said as tears streamed down his cheek. “I’ve been sitting over here and just crying a little bit, shedding some tears, and just thinking about the journey of how long it’s taken to get here. We’ve been in Nashville for 13 years and I felt like everybody was kind of giving up on what we were doing, which is fine, you know. But the whole community… Country radio, y’all have rallied behind us, and to think now we have the No. 1 song in the whole country… it’s unbelievable. Thank you to you guys for not giving up on me, for allowing me to chase this dream, for sharing this song, calling your radio stations… I’m forever thankful.”

“We have the No. 1 song in the whole country,” Baldridge added with a big smile on his face in a state of disbelief. “I can’t believe it.”

Graciously Thanks Everyone For Their Support

Baldridge went on to thank everyone for their support and tease what’s next for his career.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this happen and supporting what I’m doing. I’m just going to sit here and bask in it some more of just really trying to take in the No. 1 song in the whole country. Thank you guys, love y’all,” he concluded. “Thank you guys for following me, thank you Country radio. Hopefully we can do this again… Everybody’s asking what’s next, we’re going to be having lots more new music. Make sure you’re following us. We’re going to be teasing new songs. Y’all this is so crazy. Thank you for everyone that’s been texting me, it’s been hard to keep up with everything. Thank you for commenting,” he added.

The singer/songwriter is currently embarking on a massive headlining tour, which kicked off on August 15 in Fresno, CA, and continues through July 10, 2025, where the trek will wrap up in Redwood Falls, MN.

“We’re getting ready to go on tour and tour on a No. 1 song, which is crazy. So please get your tickets,” he told his followers in the clip.

“She’s Somebody’s Daughter”

Produced by Nick Schwarz and co-written by Baldridge alongside Jimmy Yeary and Cameron Jaymes, “She’s Somebody’s Daughter” was independently released in 2019. The song later went on to go viral in 2021 and then a year later in 2022, Baldridge released a music video for “She’s Somebody’s Daughter (The Wedding Version),” which featured footage from he and his wife Katherine’s 2021 wedding.

Since then, Drew Baldridge promoted the song independently, ultimately leading it to become his first-ever chart-topping hit.

The Story Of Drew Baldridge’s Hit Song

Drew Baldridge recently opened up about the tune while co-hosting Country Countdown USA alongside Lon Helton, where he told the story of how the song got to where it is today.

“This is a crazy story of a song I wrote 6 years ago, after meeting my wife’s dad.  Never thought it would get to where it’s at now, especially after losing my record deal.  Never thought I’d have another shot at country radio. In the last year, I created my own record label, and sent it myself,” Baldridge explained. “I put a video of the song on TikTok, and the next day it had 10 million views.  Two years later, it has 100s of millions of views.  So I decided to send it to radio by myself.  My goal was to get Top 40.  Because I’d never been there.  Once it did, it kept flying up.”

After his conversation with Helton, the father of one expressed his deep gratitude for the support he’s received from Country radio as an independent artist, emphasizing how it’s a dream come true to have folks at Country radio backing his music.

“Thank you for having me here.  I will never forget this moment, being on the Top 30 countdown,” he concluded. “It almost brings tears to my eyes. I’ve listened to this for a long time. I never thought I’d be here. This is awesome. This is a blessing.  I can’t say thank you enough for letting me tell my story. This is a dream for me.”
