Demps just dropped a carefree anthem, “Forgot To Take A Picture,” and it’s destined to get listeners singing along to its catchy chorus. The 31-year-old rising country star, whose real name is Katie Dempsey, allows her bubbly personality and vibrant energy to shine throughout the song.

Demps Anthemic New Song “Forgot To Take A Picture”

“Forgot To Take A Picture,” released on November 8 via Mailbox Money Records and EMPIRE, was written by Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd, Charles Kelley, and producer Jimmy Robbins. Throughout the track, Demps recalls lighting up downtown with friends, defying last call, and staying out until sunrise — all without taking a single photo to document the evening.

“We lit up downtown/ Drunk and making out/ Think that bartender told us to cool it/ Last call we weren’t done/ Stayed up till the sun/ We were on fire, but there’s no way to prove it/ Never forget these nights we can’t remember/ It was so good I forgot to take a picture,” Demps sings on the tune’s chorus.

The nostalgic tune perfectly captures the excitement of unforgettable nights shared with friends, as the lyrics paint a vivid picture of living in the moment with memories that only exist in your mind: “Woke up hungover with/ Nothing to show for it/ but a Head full of memories/ If even if they’re kind of blurry.”

Demps Was “Blown Away” And Connected To The Song After First Listen

Demps told Music Mayhem that she was “blown away” when she first heard the track’s demo, sharing, “Jimmy is such an amazing producer, and I’m so thankful to be working with him.”

She instantly connected to the song after first listen. “I’m not ashamed to say I have a lot of fun nights, and it’s usually when I am wearing the best outfit. Typically, I’m so caught up in the moment, enjoying the time with my friends. That’s usually when I forget to take a picture,” Demps continued.

Upon learning that Maren Morris wrote the song, she confessed, “I’ve always been a fan” of Morris and her music, adding that recording one of her songs feels like a dream come true. While this song does not currently have a music video, Demps says a lot of “fun content” is in the works and will be shared in the near future.

“Forgot To Take A Picture” marks Demps’ fifth song, following the release of “Rough Cut Diamond,” “Who’s Who,” “If You Were A Country Girl” and her debut single, “Bitch On Wine.” The tracks are expected to appear on a larger project at a later date.

“This is the 5th song released in the span of 5 months, I think the next step is to really push this music out while I’m working on a personal project. And see how the creative mind works while feeling emotions through songwriting,” Demps explained of what’s to come. “…but it’s a goal to make an album in the future.”
