Dan + Shay don’t need a deejay to get the party started. In fact, the GRAMMY award-winning country music duo is showing a whole new side of their artistry with the release of their brand-new single, “We Should Get Married.”

The song, which Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney penned alongside Andy Albert, has dropped with an official music video, which also features the musical act’s hilarious sense of humor as they acknowledge their history of being among the go-to balladeers of country music.

“Everybody just thinks we’re just the ballad guys, first dance guys. It’s so frustrating,” Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney says in the opening sequence of the music video, directed by P. Tracy. “I think we should just go rogue and play the song.”

Billed as the house band to sing the first-dance song at a wedding, the two then leave it to themselves to show guests that they are here to stay and will get people on their feet. First, they confuse the crowd by taking things slow on a piano before bringing the party outdoors in front of the famous Las Vegas Little White Wedding Chapel, which hosted the weddings of Britney Spears, Michael Jordan, Slash, Jennifer Lopez, Frank Sinatra and more.

We should get married, take it out to Vegas / Find a little chapel, hire us an Elvis / Pink limousine longhorns on the hood / Drinkin’ champagne out the sunroof, we could,” Dan + Shay sing alongside a fast-paced country shuffle. “Get you in a white dress, I could rent a cheap suit / Feed each other weddin’ cake, book a little honeymoon / Seven days in Paris, yeah / I’m talkin’ Tennessee / Ain’t no point in waitin’ / Baby, I’ve been sayin’ / We should get married.”

New Album, Bigger Houses

“We Should Get Married” is the latest track on Dan + Shay’s upcoming fifth studio album, Bigger Houses.

The song follows a string of releases from the highly anticipated project, including their current radio single “Save Me The Trouble,” “Always Gonna Be,” “Heartbreak on the Map,” and the project’s title track. Bigger Houses will follow Dan + Shay’s multi-award-winning album Good Things, which spawned hits: “Glad You Exist,” “I Should Probably Go To Bed,” “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber, and their most recent radio hit, “You.”

Before that, they charted with songs “Tequila,” “Speechless,” and “All To Myself,” from 2018’s Dan + Shay.

Of the upcoming 12-track album, Mooney told the Today Show, “This is a brand-new breath of fresh air. Dan and I have been through a lot over the last ten years, and I feel like this is a new chapter for us. I’ve never been more excited to put out music. There are songs that mean so much to us.”

To Serve As Coaches On The Voice

The song also follows the recent announcement that Dan + Shay will serve as coaches for Season 25 of The Voice. In 2024, the two will mark the show’s first-ever coaching duo, taking up red seats alongside co-stars Reba McEntire, John Legend, and Chance the Rapper.

Bigger Houses, co-produced by the duo’s Dan Smyers and Scott Hendricks, is due September 15 via Warner Music Nashville. Fans can now pre-order special edition vinyl versions of the album, available at Dan + Shay’s official website.
