Cody Johnson temporarily halted production of his Florida concert on Saturday evening (February 17) to help a fan in need of medical attention. The country superstar was in the midst of his headlining performance on the Leather Tour at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, when he was forced to stop his concert to request a medic for a concertgoer on the front row.

Halts Concert To Help Fan In Need Of Medical Attention

One concertgoer in attendance at the show documented the incident and shared it to TikTok, where fans are praising Johnson as “awesome” and a “class act.”

“Can we get some medical attention down here on the front row, please?” Cody Johnson asked, addressing the venue’s medics and security personnel.

“This is not a Travis Scott concert. We will stop to help people out…” Johnson declared, referencing “UTOPIA” rapper Travis Scott, who continued on with his performance at Astroworld Festival in November of 2021 despite a fatal crowd crush that resulted in 10 deaths, numerous hospitalizations, and hundreds of injuries.

He went on to let the crowd know that they are safe at his shows and that he will resume the concert when the fan is taken care of.

“Y’all just sit tight. As soon as we figure this out we’ll continue with the show, but I’m gonna tell you right now, this is about you, this ain’t about me, so we’re going to stop and take care of this young lady before we do anything,” Johnson continued.

The clip, shared on social media by a concertgoer, concluded before the show resumed, so it’s unclear what happened to the fan needing medical attention.

Leather Tour

Cody Johnson is currently in the midst of his much-anticipated, headlining Leather Tour, which kicked off on January 19 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

While embarking on the trek, he made a stop at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and solidified his place as an arena headliner in country music, and further established himself as a country music icon in the making. That show marked Johnson’s first time headlining the Music City arena, as well as a significant milestone for Johnson, as he set the record for the most tickets ever sold by a male country artist headlining at Bridgestone Arena.

Joining Johnson as support on select dates of the trek are Justin Moore, Dillon Carmichael, Chris Janson and Drake Milligan. The trek currently runs until September, with numerous sold-out dates, including a performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on February 2.

New Album, Leather

The tour comes in support of his latest album, Leather, which arrived in November 2023. The 12-track project features his current single “The Painter,” which currently sits in the Top 10 at Country radio, as well as fan-favorite tunes such as “Dirt Cheap,” “Make Me A Mop,” “Whiskey Beat (feat. Jelly Roll),” “Love Live Country Music (feat. Brooks & Dunn)” and more.

Earlier this year, Cody Johnson told us that there will be a deluxe version of the album coming in the near future, which will feature 12 more new songs in addition to the project’s original 12 tracks.

“I would like to release twelve to give people a chance to digest, to really go through these twelve songs and figure out what their favorites are, what their least favorites are, and live with it for a little while, then they can have the next twelve,” he revealed, describing the release as “kind of an appetizer-entree situation.” One song that we know will appear on the forthcoming deluxe edition of the album is his highly-anticipated collaboration with Carrie Underwood.
