One of the world’s most iconic pop artists, Christina Aguilera returned to Disney World to mark its 50th anniversary with a stunning performance of Mulan’s “Reflection,” in front of the Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
In a recent Instagram post, Aguilera stood in front of the lit up castle and the famous Walt Disney statue, wearing a white ball gown with a matching tiara, layered pearl jewelry and stunning silk gloves. Dressed in her dreamy attire, she looked as though she truly was a real-life princess, which is just about every little girl’s dream.
“Forever a Disney girl, always a Disney princess…,” she wrote on social media. “It was a full circle experience being back to my old stomping grounds at @WaltDisneyWorld. It was a dream I could have only imagined as a child working on The Mickey Mouse Club. Disney’s always where the magic begins…”
For her performance, the singer changed into a black blazer dress, with a bedazzled heart cut out in the center, revealing a rhinestone corset, paired with sparkling tights and knee-high black boots. In front of thousands of guests, Aguilera belted her heart out for the entire park to hear, resulting in an uproar of applause.
“Happy 50th anniversary Disney World. I love you always and forever,” she said as she blew kisses to the audience following her performance.
Aguilera got her start in the music and entertainment industry in 1993, when she became a member of Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club. In 1998, at the age of 17, she then went on to record “Reflection” for the animated film, Mulan. It’s clear that her vocals have only strengthened since that time, meaning her recent performance of this song along with “Royal Brave” and “True” at the magic kingdom, was nothing shy of spectacular. After her time at Disney, her talents became recognized by several recording labels. Eventually, this experience led her to sign with RCA Records, one year before releasing her self-titled debut album.
As mentioned in her introduction, the superstar has now earned herself six Grammys so far in her career. Although days are no longer focused on all things Disney, she still takes the time to go back to her roots and create more magical memories at the place that started it all for her. Last year, the former Mouseketeer even recorded a remix of “Reflection” for the new live-action the movie, more than 22 years after the original version was released. Aguilera is living proof that dreams really can come true at Disney World.
Aguilera’s performance can be seen on ABC’s “The Most Magical Story on Earth: 50 Years of Walt Disney World” featuring several celebrity guests including host Whoopi Goldberg.
