Chris Lane is taking some time off from the road.

The “Fill Them Boots” singer shared he’s on a break from touring in order to focus on his family and songwriting while competing at the 2023 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, according to PEOPLE.

“I’m gonna take some time off in the early parts of this year. I’ve been writing as much as possible. And then I’ll get back out there touring and get a record out. Since this will be my third record, I just want to make sure to get it right,” Lane told the outlet.

“I’m excited to spend a little bit of time at home since I’ve been touring so much, just lay low for a hot minute,” he added.

Last year was a busy one for Lane and his wife, Bachelor alum, Lauren Bushnell Lane. The couple welcomed their second son, Baker Weston Lane in October.

Lane said that adding another child to the family has been an “adjustment,” particularly for he and Lauren’s oldest son, Dutton Walker, 19 months.

“It’s been an adjustment,” the 38-year-old country singer admitted. “There’s no doubt about it. We’re not getting a whole lot of sleep, and I think it’s been a big adjustment for Dutton. His world’s been rocked a little bit, but you know, we’re 12 weeks in now. He’s getting adjusted to it. We’re getting adjusted to it.”

“We just need these boys to stay in their beds a little bit longer,” he joked.

His issues with sleep aside, Lane is already looking forward to bringing his boys on the road with him when he resumes touring.

“I’m taking a little bit of time off the road, but once I get back out there, Lauren and the kids can always come out on the road any weekend they need to or want to,” Lane told Country Now at the tournament. “We’re not really sure how we’ll handle it yet, but when I get back out there touring and Lauren wants to come out, we’ll figure it out.”

“Every time I’m not on the road, I always miss it. My favorite part of being an artist is performing live,” he continued.

In the meantime, Lane, who’s an avid golf fan, enjoyed the chance to participate in the tournament for the first time from Jan. 19-22 alongside LPGA Tour winners and fellow celebrities, including country singers Lee Brice and Michael Ray.

“It is my first year, but I’m very, very excited. I’m absolutely obsessed with the game of golf and competing, so this is a great week for me,” Lane told Country Now at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club following the first day of the tournament. “I had some good holes, had some bad holes. Pretty typical of my golf game.”

“I feel blessed to be a part of this event,” he added. “I didn’t really know what to expect, but I’d heard from a few buddies that have played in the past that they absolutely loved it and that it was such a fun week. So saying that I’m excited would be an understatement. I’ve been looking forward to this for so long.”

Lane held a solid position on the celebrity leaderboard during the tournament, which found its competitors vying for $1.5 million and aired on the Golf Channel, Peacock, and NBC.
