Chris Janson is entering a new era of music, beginning with his newly released single “All I Need Is You.” Written with Ashley Gorley, Brad Clawson, and Mitch Oglesby, the song was inspired by Janson’s wife Kelly Lynn, and finds the singer/songwriter and multi-talented musician separating his wants from his needs, acknowledging that nothing is more important than the love of his life.
“When that sun goes down at the end of the day / There’s just one thing I can’t lose,” the Missouri native sings throughout the chorus of the tender-hearted country tune. “If you’re by my side, I’m better than alright / Baby, all I need is you.”
Janson recently opened up about his brand-new track that follows his breakthrough 3X Platinum-certified single, “Buy Me A Boat,” and a string of Gold-certified hits like, “Done,” “Fix A Drink,” “Good Vibes,” “Drunk Girl.” He admitted that his latest song is “my favorite song I’ve ever recorded and released.”
“First of all, let me say, it’s my favorite song I’ve ever recorded and released. It’s 100%, totally, about my wife, Kelly, as you can probably imagine,” Janson told Music Mayhem of his wife, whom he wed on July 4, 2010. “I just tried to keep it my songwriting style, keeping it honest and real. That’s exactly what we did with this song… At the end of the day, no matter what’s going on in the world, all I need is Kelly. She’s the inspiration for a lot of things in my life, but certainly this song. I couldn’t be more proud of it.”

“All I Need Is You,” set to impact radio airwaves on Monday (Feb. 20), marks Janson’s debut release with new label Big Machine Label Group Records (BMLG) in partnership with his own Harpeth 60 Records. The track is the first taste of what fans can expect from Janson’s upcoming full-length album, which he anticipates will be ready for release this summer.

Revealing why he chose “All I Need Is You” as the lead-off track to his forthcoming project, Janson says, “This song is a great stand-alone song, in my opinion. It really raised its hand right off the bat. Even from when I wrote it, and we demoed it. I just felt like, immediately, it was a big hit.”
“This is my lifestyle,” the loving husband and proud father continued. “Kelly and I are so prominent together and better together. We do our deal. We raised our kids and are very much in love. I think people like to follow that through social media and things. So, it goes hand in hand, and it’s a natural thing.”
Janson co-wrote all of the songs on his upcoming as-yet-untitled project, which he co-produced with GRAMMY-winning producer Julian Raymond (Glen Campbell, Cheap Trick). He says he finished cutting the tracks for the rest of his full-length debut and added that it only took two days to complete the collection.
“Man. I just had such a good time making this album…cut it in two days — 12 songs, 6 songs each day, bing-bang-done,” Janson revealed. “It was so fast. It felt like a whirlwind, but a good one to be in.”
“I will say with the rest of the album has a wide plethora of things on it. But I feel like out of all my albums to date, this one compliments itself the best song by song. Even with the placement of it and everything like that, I have to chalk that up to having a great team, starting with my Kelly at home being a part of my great interior team,” he adds. “I feel like this is my best work to date. No doubt about it. I would stand behind that 100%.”
Of whether or not folks can expect collaborations on the upcoming album, Janson says, “I’m never crossing that out. That’s always an option that’s on the table. I’ve been talking with some friends about doing some things in and amongst this record. We wanted to get it done first, but we can look at those things as we kind of progress. So, we’ll see. With my track record with doing things with some of my friends from Eric Church to Tim McGraw and a lot of these people, anything can happen.”
