Chris Daughtry is focused on his fitness almost as much as his music, with the singer often showing off his ripped physique on social media along with videos of his training regimen.

Daughtry Takes Fans Inside His Home Gym To Show Off His Workout Routine

Daughtry has been giving fans looks into his workouts for around one month, posting videos on TikTok of himself completing various exercises including hex bar deadlifts, barbell rows, burpees, goblet squats and one cable move dubbed “The Wolverine.” Fans made sure to appreciate the uploads in the comments, with some writing that the rocker inspired their next workouts and others simply appreciating his fit body.

Along with his TikTok videos, Daughtry flaunted his abs in the music video for Daughtry’s latest single, “Artificial,” which sees the singer fighting for his freedom in a world overrun by artificial intelligence. Chris Daughtry is shirtless for much of the clip, but he told fans during a Live Q&A session on YouTube that he wanted to get in shape for himself, not for the video.

“This didn’t just happen for the video,” he shared. “This has been years in the making. As many of you have been following me and my fitness journey over the years, I started taking it really seriously after COVID-19. I’ve been into it my whole life.”

His Love For Action Films Inspired Him To Achieve A Ripped Physique

The American Idol alum explained that his love for action films and comic books was “the catalyst” for him wanting to achieve such a ripped physique.

“As a kid, I was always obsessed with bodybuilding magazines and comic books, where, of course, everyone is shredded,” he explained. “And I was like, I’ve always wanted to look like an action figure. So I was like, ‘Fu– it. I’m going to do it. I’m going to do what it takes, and I’m going to take it very seriously.’”

The North Carolina native also gave credit to his fitness coach Fraser Bayley, who he said has “been influential in helping me navigate all of the things in regards to timing, training, diet, what to eat when.”

What Is Daughtry’s Secret Weapon To His Chiseled Abs?

So, what’s Chris Daughtry‘s secret to being ripped? According to the 44-year-old singer/songwriter, “Life is hard. Results aren’t just handed out. Anything worth having doesn’t come easy. Blahblahblah… You’ve heard it all before. So what’s MY secret weapon? It’s simple: CONSISTENCY.”

Daughtry previously discussed his fitness journey with Muscle & Fitness, sharing that he began lifting weights in high school and noted that he might even have become a bodybuilder had he not found music. His fitness became less of a priority to him after starting a family, which quickly showed.

“You get into that kind of cycle, and then you realize: Wow, this stuff actually catches up with you,” Daughtry said, adding that when he began hitting the road post-American Idol, he ate in a less-than-healthy way.

“I hit the road, and it all went back downhill,” he explained. “You start drinking a ton of beer, eating pizza and whatever else is in front of you, and you kind of just do that everyday cycle. And after a while you’re just so unmotivated to do anything.”

Seeing Photos Of Himself Prompted Him To Want To Change His Lifestyle And Diet

Ultimately, the 44-year-old decided to make a change after seeing photos of himself online. “I have to change my eating habits,” he recalled thinking. “I have to change the way I look at food [and] I have to change my lifestyle and not make it a ‘diet.’”

In addition to his overall quality of life, Daughtry’s focus on fitness also improved his performance on stage. “When I started taking my health and fitness way more seriously, my stage performance just got so much better,” he said. “The energy that I was able to pour out: I’m all over the place. I’m always moving.”
