Chayce Beckham stunned with an impressive cover of Zac Brown Band’s No. 1 hit “Colder Weather” on American Idol.

On Sunday, May 16, the rising star and Idol contestant gave his own unique spin to the popular country hit, starting slow before exploding into a full band performance. Following his Zac Brown Cover, the Idol judges praised Beckham’s vocal abilities.

“Oh my God, you were born on American Idol, I’d knew you when,” Perry said. “You live on this stage now, you live here.”

“What you need to realize is you’re here because you’re real and everything that you give us feels real and that can take you so far,” Bryan praised Beckham. “Being genuine and authentic, people love that and that’s why you made it to this point.”

“They like you, the point is you earned that, you earned that right because they fell in love with not only your voice but with who you are,” Richie gushed. “thats the genuine quality of being a star.”

Co-written by Brown alongside Coy Bowles, Wyatt Durrette and Levi Lowrey, “Colder Weather” is the second single from Zac Brown Band’s 2021 album, You Get What You Give.

In addition to performing a cover of Zac Brown Band, Beckham also gave the live debut of his very personal single “23” and performed a duet alongside fellow Idol contestant Casey Bishop of Finneas’ “Break My Heart Again.”

Additionally, Throughout Beckham’s Idol journey, he has impressed the Idol judges and stole the hearts of Americans across the country with covers of Chris Stapleton (“You Should Probably Leave”), Ed Sheeran (“Afterglow”), Incubus alongside Brandon Boyd (“Drive”), Bob Marley (“Waiting In Vain”), Kolton Moore & The Clever Few (“What Brings Life Also Kills”), Bryan Adams (“Everything I Do I Do It For You”), Disney’s Dumbo (“Baby Mine”), Coldplay (“Magic”) and his Mother’s Day original “Mamma.”

Earlier in the season, Idol judge Luke Bryan praised Beckham saying “your first note had me.” While Perry gushed “you sound like the heart of American,” before correctly predicting, “I think you’re a top 5.”
