Chase Matthew had a special Christmas this year, as he was able to give one of the most important people in his life an incredibly meaningful gift. Matthew let fans in on the meaningful moment in a TikTok video, documenting the surprise he was able to give his Mamaw.

“All right y’all, this video’s probably going to come with a lot of tears,” Matthew began. “If you guys know my Mamaw, you know how much I love my Mamaw.” The singer explained that his favorite childhood memory with his grandmother involved being at church on Sundays, when his Mamaw would play the organ. “I would always sneak around the edge of the sanctuary and I would go climb up in the organ with her and just watch her play,” he recalled. “Some great moments behind that organ with my Mamaw.”

Matthew told fans that as his church grew, the organ his grandmother played “kind of got lost in the mix.”

@iamchasematthew

This year for Christmas I got to do something really special for my Mamaw. As most of you know, church has always been a very important part of my family, my Mamaw played the organ at our church for 28 years and it was some of my best childhood memories watching her play and getting to play it with her. She has talked about that organ a lot over the years wondering where it could have ended up. This year, with the help of Pastor Clay I was able to track down that old organ (it’s a 1958 Hammond C3 in incredible condition 🤯) and gift it to Mamaw for Christmas. Now it’s part of our family again for generations to come! I love you Mamaw. Thank you to @threeoakschurch and @blacktiemovingofficial for helping make this possible. MERRY CHRISTMAS Y’ALL! ✝️💙 #chasematthew #countrymusic #merrychristmas

“My Mamaw has talked about this organ for years and how much she missed it, and she wishes that she could still play that organ at church,” he said. So he decided to see if he could do something about it, texting his pastor in an effort to find the instrument. “The other day I texted my pastor and I said, ‘Hey man, my Mamaw’s been talking about this organ forever. Is there any way, you got any idea on where this organ may have ended up?’”

Matthew told his pastor that he wanted to buy the organ so he could gift it to his Mamaw for Christmas this year, but his pastor said there was no need. “He texts me back like, ‘No way I could charge you for that. Mamaw deserves that organ. She played it for so many years. How about you just take it to her?’”

“So that’s what we’re about to go do,” Matthew told the camera. “Mamaw, I love you. I can’t wait to go see this thing, and I know that you’re going to be absolutely stoked when you see it. We love you.”

The video cut to Matthew in his office, setting up the organ before inviting his Mamaw over. After having her stand in front of the office’s Christmas tree for what Matthew told her would be a photo, he kept the camera rolling as he delivered his surprise.

“I want to tell you something,” he said. “I love you so much and this has been a surprise that’s been really hard to keep. So follow me into this room. Take your time. Don’t cry too much, all right? Look what we found.”

After seeing the organ all wrapped up with a red bow, Mamaw exclaimed with happiness and hugged her grandson, telling him he could sit on the bench with her like he used to. “I’m overwhelmed,” she said before beginning to play and giving fans a clue as to where Matthew got his musical talent. Matthew and his family even got their pastor on a video call so he could see Mamaw playing the organ again as she declared, “This is the best Christmas, Christmas, birthday, present, whatever, in my whole life.”

Mamaw ended the video with some words of inspiration for Matthew’ fans. “Well, listen, if you want something, say something,” she said, “because God hears it or somebody might hear it and just go get it for you.”

“It’s Christmas, It’s all about Jesus, It’s not about us [and] It’s not about gifts, but this is the most awesome gift that I could ever think of because I invested so much into this for so many years,” she continued, joking, “We’re going to get on TikTok and have a revival!”
