Last week Carrie Underwood seemingly released a song called “Stretchy Pants” and before fans knew it, the track was immediately removed from the internet. Now, it’s back, and it does not disappoint.

The comedic holiday song is unlike anything fans have ever heard from the country superstar. The tongue-in-cheek tune, which is definitely not meant to be taken too seriously, is all about overindulging while gathering with your family during the holidays.

“Time to celebrate the season, haven’t eaten all day / My tummy is growling ’cause I’ve been saving up space / I’ve got my place at the table, can’t fit no more on my plate / I’ve got my fork in my hand ready to stuff my face,” Underwood sings in the track’s opening verse.

The song shouts out beloved holiday dishes like turkey, potatoes and casseroles and on the chorus the Oklahoma native sings, “I got my stretchy pants on (Stretchy pants) / I got my stretchy pants on (Stretchy, strеtchy) / Spandex and Lycra, you better work it for mе / ‘Cause I’m about to expand this band of elasticity / I got my stretchy pants on (Stretchy pants) / I got my stretchy pants on (Stretchy, stretchy).”

Fans were outraged upon the song’s removal last week and took to social media to share their concerns. Now that the song is back and available on streaming platforms, the website stretchypantssong.com was created and shares that a portion of the proceeds from streaming and downloads of “Stretchy Pants” will be donated to The Store, the Nashville-based organization which was co-founded by Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley and empowers those seeking self-sufficiency in a manner that fosters hope.

The Store provides a free shopping experience for qualified families and individuals, based on the belief that choice is a key element in protecting the dignity of others. More information on The Store can be found HERE

Underwood co-wrote “Stretchy Pants” with Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano.

“People know that I am a champion for a healthy lifestyle, but a big part of that is balance. There are times to be disciplined, and then there are times when we need to eat and drink and be merry and enjoy ourselves with family and friends,” says Underwood.

Underwood adds, “When Hillary, Chris, and I were writing some more serious Christmas songs, one day we took a fun detour and just had the best time writing this song.  We knew it would bring a lot of fun and joy to people, but I also wanted to do something good with it that would help people. I immediately thought about Brad and Kim’s charity, The Store, and how we could use this song to help them and their mission to bring joy to folks that need it, especially during the holiday season. Everybody should be able to afford feasts for the holidays, and everybody should have the opportunity to break out those stretchy pants!”

The release of “Stretchy Pants” comes just after  the seven-time GRAMMY-Award winner shared the special edition of her chart-topping holiday album, My Gift, in late September.

Produced and arranged by Greg Wells, My Gift is a combination of beloved traditional songs celebrating the spiritual nature of Christmas and several originals, including her collaboration with John Legend, “Hallelujah.”

The special edition of My Gift features three additional tracks: “Favorite Time Of Year” and “All Is Well,” both produced by Greg Wells, and “Let There Be Peace/Something In The Water (LIVE From HBO Max’s MY GIFT: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood).”

My Gift (Special Edition) is now available on Crystal Clear Double Vinyl here

A limited-edition White Vinyl version of the album will be sold at Walmart stores and Walmart.com and an exclusive limited-edition Green Vinyl edition with a collectible poster is available at Target stores and at Target.com.
