Chart-topping singer/songwriter Carrie Underwood, 38, is facing extensive backlash on Twitter after liking an anti-mask Tweet from conservative commentator and host of The Matt Walsh Show, Matt Walsh.

Twitter users are blasting the country superstar for supporting Walsh’s post, which showcased a video of his speech at a recent Nashville Schools Board meeting where he “spoke out against the cruel and indefensible mask mandate for children.”

In the clip, Walsh said that he believes Covid-19 poses “almost no threat to our kids at all,” and that a mask mandate should be seen as “child abuse.” He went on to criticize the school board for “teaching them that the air is toxic, that everyone around them is sick.”

Underwood has yet to speak out about the situation, however, at the time of publication, she is currently trending worldwide on Twitter as many users continue to share their disappoint over her support of the anti-mask comment.

“I just deleted all of Carrie Underwood songs from my Spotify. I’m not supporting that! #WearAMask,” one user wrote.

Another user shared, “Carrie Underwood being a God-over-Science person is the least surprising thing I’ve heard today. Delta take the wheel…”

Some users supported Underwood as well.

“@carrieunderwood don’t apologize the mob hates you already! We love you and God loves you,” wrote one fan. Another shared, “Well @carrieunderwood you’re a legend always have been and always will be. Who cares what the leftest mob thinks. People have to learn to move on.”

Walsh responded to Underwood’s support of his Tweet on Tuesday, writing, “Carrie Underwood liked my video and now the mob is coming for her. She should know better than to like something that they don’t like. This is an unforgivable sin.”
